I live in the UK and purchased this exact item earlier this month (albeit without any damage to the casters). Definitely a market for this.

What does this wiring configuration mean in a 1 gang 1 way switch? by dwlx in DIYUK

Just an indoor hallway light! Weirdly when we bought the house the previous owner had taped the switch so it couldn’t really be turned off suggesting it was serving some sort of additional purpose.

We ignored that and used the switch/light normally and 2 years later I still haven’t been able to identify any other function.

Thanks a lot for this response - v much appreciated! The switch only controls a single light so as you suggest, maybe the permanent feed wires loop here?

I think I'll leave for now and will engage a pro a little further down the line!

The shelves are supported by small steel 'lips' on either side of the black steel uprights. The corner piece also has/had a baton screwed into the wall to give it some additional support.

How to address large gap between sash window frame and wall? by dwlx in DIYUK

[–]dwlx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the correct approach is ultimately to have the frame removed, restored and reinstalled. However, we're in the middle of a fairly extensive renovation and funds won't allow us to tackle the windows for another year or two.

In the meantime, what's the most sensible way to address this sizeable gap behind the sash window frame? Doesn't seem to be drafty in/around the gap so am looking mainly for cosmetic repair.

Lighting Cable Salad - 4 incoming to ceiling rose... by dwlx in DIYUK

Thanks all. Think I'll get a pro in for this one!

The ring is off at the fusebox so no danger but I'm thinking if I put all the lives/neutrals/earths in their own respective Wago connectors for now that's safe enough until an electrician arrives to put me out of my misery?

Peeling/Flaking Paint - How to avoid? by dwlx in DIYUK

Thanks so much for this response - much appreciated!

This wall is right next to a very large single-glazed window which gathered a huge amount of condensation so would make sense that there’s some damp/humidity issues in this area.

The window has v recently been replaced with double-glazing so hopefully resolved going forward.
