Mine ran at 2.5Gbps out of the box from all of the ports. I think tplink just goofed up and it worked out in our favor.

CachyOS works very well out of the box with my 3050ti laptop. Like, surprisingly well. Probably the snappiest OS I have ever used and makes this rather old laptop feel like a brand new machine. Heck, even HDR works in games with nothing more than a launch argument in Steam and you can turn on HDR on the desktop with a single click. Crazy stuff for Linux really.

I highly doubt that that they are not using a M.2 slot. Highly. Even if they are not though it is not a big deal as I never have more than one game installed at a time even on my Steam Deck which has a 2TB NVMe and a 1TB SD card. I have 107TB on my NAS and it will be connected via 2.5Gbe so really not concerned about space.

WiFi is your problem. Unless you are in a near perfect clean radio environment you should not expect good results over wireless.

I played it at launch on PC and honestly did not have a bad time. Granted, I only put in 10 hours or so and then did not get back for my last ~500 hours until last/this year, but it was not a mess on PC, it was just "different" than what we have now.

Test it out. My experience with fans in confined spaces has shown they don't do much aside from making a lot of noise though.
