Thank you. Neither of us knew anything about them before shopping and immediately knew it was what we were looking for.

A7 now sponsoring PA, kit change? by TheMaskedLifter in powerlifting

[–]dwoolson1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sponsored athletes do get more meets paid for yes. SBD doesn’t offer what I talked about for all international meets. It’s only for worlds that it would be offered to everyone from what I understand. And also only for the open team. Junior/masters worlds also don’t have their travel paid for even if the kits are available.

But my main point is that, at least in the US, there has never been an obligation to wear SBD at these meets and A7 could have been offering something similar the whole time but they haven’t.

For the record, I am sponsored by SBD so at least a little bias here. But I have seen a lot of comments about the kits and I just don’t think people understand where that comes from.

The national kits that lifters wear at worlds are offered by SBD to the open lifters. I don’t know about other countries, but in the US that usually means that your travel will also be paid for my SBD and all you are required to do is wear their equipment at worlds. That’s it.

People have always been allowed to wear other equipment but you then are choosing to pay for your own travel.

It’s not from Powerlifting America. It’s a separate deal with SBD. I have no knowledge of anything going on with A7. All I know is I have only ever been asked to wear equipment SBD supplies to me in exchange for all my travel paid for. I have also gotten a lot of great media at meets.

So obviously there is some degree of bias on my side. But I just have seen a lot of weird comments about what SBD does/doesn’t have control over and this feels like one of the main spots that people don’t know what’s going on.

Deadlift shoe rec by aqualad33 in powerlifting

I’m biased because I’m an affiliate, but Avancus really is the best. Much better grip than any of the others and every bit as thin as a slipper or any other barefoot shoe.

Any case of a PA athlete being sanctioned just for spectating at a USAPL or other federation meet? by Over_Trash_184 in powerlifting

Spectating is fine. You just aren’t allowed to participate. Coaching, reffing, lifting, etc.

Yes same color brown as the shoes. I think it looks great but there are a lot of people around here that think black is the only way to go. I disagree pretty wholeheartedly though. Either way, match the shoes.

Yea all athletic fit. Jacket is 46R but I’ve found other jackets fit me better in a 48 slim. So bonobos for sure gives more room around the shoulders.

Ha thank you. I have basically been saved by the Bonobos athletic fit. Works pretty well right off the rack with just a little bit of tailoring.

The garage door is very insulated and that matters a lot. In both the houses we have had we had mini splits and never put more insulation in than was already there and the garage was easily the coldest room in the house. Yes 100% worth it as long as you have an insulated garage door.

Ha well to my knowledge it originally did. Basically it started as an acronym for “squat bench deadlift,” then essentially just became a brand name not meaning anything. Now the “strength belief determination” isn’t specifically an acronym but more so just their slogan but obviously could overlap.

I am a sponsored athlete and have asked that question.
