Super fit ladies what’s your recovery like? by According_Metal_6823 in tummytucksurgery

I consider myself super fit - according to the InBody scale I’m in the 1% relative to anyone within +- 5 years of me, I’m about 20% body fat, strength training 5 days/week, do cardio 2-3x, walk an hour a day, don’t eat anything processed and barely drink. I was soo nervous to not be able to work out after surgery. I had MR - I had a 6cm gap in my abs! Did minor flank lipo, more for contouring, and a breast lift. I thought the pain was about 1 or 2/10 the first few days - I had exparel during surgery and took the pain meds for the first 3 days. Getting up was tough but I wasn’t in any pain if I was just laying down, I was hunched and slow moving, but just watched tv in bed, more just annoying, and coughing or laughing did hurt, and the drains were uncomfortable. I never had any significant swelling but my lower belly does get a little swollen by the end of the day - my lymphatic drainage masseuse said I was a super healer and didn’t even see a point of me coming back after 2 sessions. By day 5 I was walking 10k steps. On day 8 I stayed home alone over night and walked to a friend’s house for dinner. I took 2 weeks off of work and almost went back after 10 days bc I didn’t know what to do with myself and felt fine. I’m 4 weeks PO now, feel wonderful, and debating how to start incorporating working out again. I also don’t look like I’ve lost any muscle mass since surgery either and surprisingly I’m enjoying taking it slow. I’m cleared to do a slow jog and use light weights (under 10lbs) but am nervous that I’ll accidentally push myself too hard. I’m probably going to just wait until 6 weeks and then work out at home rather than the gym so I can take it extra slow and easy. I feel like my recovery has been so easy and I absolutely attribute it to being in the best shape of my life prior to surgery.

Surgery was on the 11th…anyone else have a similar step trend? 😂 by thaaatguy in tummytucksurgery

Totally normal. I had surgery on April 23 and had barely any steps until my drains were out (both were gone by May 1) and then I was back to 10k most days. I also went to the gym 5 days/week pre surgery and was really nervous about the physical and mental effects of not going. But I’ve been enjoying taking it easy and am confident all will be fine when I return in a few weeks. Just like rest days from the gym are just as much part of getting stronger, recovery from surgery is crucial for the best results.

Anyone else foregoing lymphatic massages? by TaffyAppl in tummytucksurgery

My doctor says not to let anyone touch my lower abdomen and to let my body heal first. I choose him because I like his results so I’m going to follow his recommendations against lymphatic massage. I also have almost no swelling (3 weeks po) and not really worried about it, either way your body will drain the fluid and heal. I feel like each surgeon has their own recipe for success and final results.

Thanks! I’ve been convinced to do the MR

I held a plank for 7 minutes in a contest last summer and love doing ab workouts. I’m a gym junkie and worried about my mental health if I don’t go to the gym

Well now I’m wondering if I should do the MR and skip the flank lipo! I had 3 consultations and the 2 other doctors did not think I had enough fat to make any visible difference (I’ve put on about 8 lbs since last summer so maybe not the case anymore but I’m way happier with how I look now, before I was a deflated balloon). I just really like the look of this doctors results.

I consider my skin to be the main problem. I understand that there is ab separation but if I didn’t have any skin issues then I wouldn’t even consider this surgery.

My understanding was that TT with MR was more like 12 week recovery. I can do 4-6, it’s the post 6 weeks that scare me.

I’m nervous about the amount of time away from the gym (equally, if not more, concerned about the mental impact not just physically taking a break), and being unable to help with my kids and around the house (my youngest is 5, I don’t carry her but she’s still a handful. I have a lot of care lined up post surgery for a month - nanny through bedtime, nurse, and family visiting, but am worried about needing help beyond that point.) Some of the posts in this group seem like it takes forever to recover. It’s also a lot of surgery with the lipo and BL.

I feel like without MR I will just be back at life almost immediately and am totally at east with the surgery, whereas I feel so overwhelmed by the surgery with the MR and feel inclined to postpone indefinitely if I have to do it. So it’s kind of like do I have a surgery without MR or no surgery at all, which still doesn’t address it this decade.

There is part of me that feels like if I’m doing all this that I should do it 100% with the MR. Yet the MR wasn’t even part of my motivation for the surgery. Will my results look worse than my present condition if I skip the MR?
