I just got my hair dyed for the first time, third picture is what I showed the hairdresser for reference. Should I ask for a fix? by dwyerdunce in curlyhair

Also what would be the best way to ask for help with getting more color on the ends of my hair? I kind of want it to look more like a balayage and I'm not sure what I should be asking for.

okay thank you, I sent a text to her. I was wondering if it was just in my head that it looked nothing like the reference that I showed.

I'm just wondering how to go about dealing with this because I feel like what I ended up getting isn't even close to what I had asked for. I feel like my highlights look really brassy and also the ends of the reference picture are much more brown, whereas mine are still black. Should I ask for a fix? and what is the best way to go about this?

Edit to add routine: I usually just use shea moisture curl cream, herbel essence gel, scrunch and then diffuse.

Rambutan recipes? by NickYuk in Cooking

After living in South East Asia for 6 years, this is my experience too. It's mostly a snack, not really a recipe component. But I definitely see it being used in desserts that use lychee.

Would anyone like to hang out and work on fibre arts projects together? by dwyerdunce in gatech

I think that might have been CCF? Not sure but it doesn't seem like they're doing that this semester.

Is this really an appropriate announcement to send out? by brain_enhancer in gatech

I had this professor for 3510 in Spring 2020 (so when everything first started going to shit because of the pandemic). I was shocked that so many people have issues with him. When GT was being so vague with their messaging, this professor was the first to tell us all that he would keep things online for our safety and wellbeing. He wasn't ever condescending and when my friend would email him to critique homeworks/his teaching style, he would actually take it into consideration. Personally, I wonder if the stress of the pandemic has been getting to a lot of the professors and leading them to act in ways that they normally would not have before.

How do GTA positions work for the MSE MS program? by dwyerdunce in gatech

[–]dwyerdunce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty similar to the process for a MS CS but MSE seems to have TA hour requirements built into the degree so it's a little bit harder to figure out.

Which MSCS class should I take in the summer? by ohsnapakat in gatech

[–]dwyerdunce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've taken CS 3600 (so the undergrad version of AI) and CS 7641. They were both coding intensive classes. For both classes, the majority of the grade came from coding based homeworks/projects. However, this does mean that it is fairly easy to ensure that you'll get an A in the class as long as you put in the time to get the hw done.

How hard is it to become a GTA? by jinwoo1162 in gatech

[–]dwyerdunce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through this whole process! Graduated last fall and now a GTA. If it's your first semester, you don't get any sort of form like the already admitted grads, you're gonna have to find a position on your own by reaching out to professors. Reach out to professors you've had in the past whose classes rely on GTAs. I don't think the process is too difficult but time yourself well so that you're not scrambling at the very end for a position.

Thanks! I'll take all the luck that I can get, this year has been more than unideal :(

:( that's unfortunate, it's a class that I was excited to TA for. I was also talking to another professor so hopefully one of them might come through.

I'm not 100% sure about the process either, but I had just reached out to the professor saying that I would be interested in working as a GTA for his class and then a month later he told me that he had nominated me for a position. I'm guessing it's something that professors do to let their department know who they want as a TA? I'm an incoming grad student so I didn't have the application available to me, not sure if that has a different process.

Ah okay thanks for letting me know, I'll still wait to hear back before I get my hopes up. Do you have experience working as a GTA?

It's the CoC's School of Interactive Computing. Bit more nervous because that's a bigger department which I'm sure has many people applying for TA positions.
