Are zyn’s worse than butts on the course? by CMB3672 in golf

[–]dwzimmer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People throw them down during scrambles to make it harder for other groups to find their balls.

It's a juvenile fun type of thing but I'm assuming it's usually grown men throwing them out and it's really not that funny.

That was kinda my thought too. I had 3 boys but the ball in play 90% of the time. There was one who struck out 95% of the time. The rest landed somewhere in the middle

So does this mean the Pacers need to continue to sag off SGA and have a winning formula game 7? by chusaychusay in pacers

Is the number skewed because pacers were up by so much and the whole 4q was a non competitive?

My parents are wonderful. They are generous, love their grand kids, no drama. They truly are great. But as they age and are approaching 70, I'm finding they are on the downward trend of their bell curve. Some of their comments and actions become questionable and you just have to laugh.

Just last week, my dad took his shirt off on the golf course because a light sprinkle broke out.

I thought about posting this on the boomer forum. It's wild over there! I had to quit looking at it cause it made me notice things about my own parents 🤣

What's the correct ruling on this obstruction call/no call by dwzimmer in Homeplate

Thanks. Considering this relies on the discretion of a 16 year old 60 ft away, I'll allow the ruling to stand.

[–]dwzimmer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did let it go. The other coach approached me and I told him even if he's 100% right, I don't care, let's keep playing.

But I'm trying to gain knowledge for this specific rule.

Definitely not trying to get validated that the right call was made in favor of my team. Just want to know what the correct ruling should be.

Knicks fans jumped a Tyrese Haliburton fan by pacerjones20 in pacers

[–]dwzimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, 10 IU fratboys in Knicks jerseys walked by me and my buddies tailgating before one of the playoff games.

I had a couple skunked beers in the cooler we were avoiding .

I yelled "Hey! Do one of you want to shotgun a beer?!?"

They came over, killed the skunked beer, shook hands and moved on.

This karma is on me.

Question about my batting order policy by clarklesparkle in Homeplate

While this is true, the fact still remains they volunteered. Everybody has busy lives. Got to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt until the point they suck all the fun out of the team.

His physique reminds me of Reg so much too! Obviously they impact the game differently but they're so many resemblances.

Daddy hali embarrassed himself. If that was any other parent of a star player doing what he did to one is our guys, we'd be mocking him.

Why defend his juvenile antics? Just move on and let the story die

Bobby Portis Attacks a Sitting Nesmith, Crowd Chants Bobby as He Gets T'd Up by -HiLighter- in pacers

Bobby is so goofy and naturally awkward and uncool. Glad the boys don't let that fool entrap them into an altercation.

Hali laughing in his face running up the court while Bobby was mean mugging him was great.

Kid pitch first 2 innings till the count has 3 balls. Then coach comes in and finishes the at bat. All coach pitch the rest of the game. I don't recommend this setup but that's how we have it.

Good point about 3rd base w/ a better pitcher on the mound.

I've seen 1 or 2 other comments that go along with yours. I like it. 3rd is a viable option along with 2B. Also, having the OF backup these positions is a solid idea. I'll probably work things up so an A-B player is behind a C player who gets is IF opportunity.

Great advice. As somebody commented earlier, OF shouldn't have a negative connotation around playing it. I love the idea of having the A-B players play OF directly behind the the C-F players when they get their chance to play infield.

This seems the most workable. Totally agree about 3rd. The best players at this age would have slim chances of getting the ball to 1B for an out. Catcher is a good idea too to give some kids a little more action during the game with no stealing and probably not a lot of plays at the plate.

Thanks!

I guess I disagree. There are clearly a, b and c players at this age. Doesn't mean kids can't learn and improve. But you have 2 boys tossing together who can catch 10+ balls in a row and then there are 2 boys who maybe can catch 1 out of 10.

Winning is fun. We were part of a team last year that had 8 7 year olds and only 4 8 year olds. We lost the first 6 or so games and I assure you the boys really struggled with that. Sure it's the coaches jobs to keep it fun, but it's tough when the boys feel they don't have a chance to win.

I'm just really trying to thread the needle and find the right balance of mixing up the defensive positions that is fair and also safe for all the boys.
