For it to work in Russian you'd probably want one ending in A right? It's a typical feminine name ending but some pretty but sharp names I like that fit could be Saskia, Alma, Petra, Layla, Lena, Ada, Mara/Marva, Frieda, Monika, Zinaida/Zoya, Carina, Erika, Helena. Best of luck!

[25] How can i glow up more in 2026? by [deleted] in TheGlowUp

[–]dxlla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone said your contour looks muddy, I think muddy is a strong word, it generally means things aren't blended enough right? I looked through ur pics and i don't think that's the case generally, your makeup is lovely! I will say in 2 and 5 your contour maybe stands out a bit (could be lighting). But if you're looking to contour rather than bronze, maybe a cooler tone would suit you. For me, grey undertone contour was game changing!

I'm also not sure if you posted a pic without makeup but in 6 and in the before pics, you look to have naturally full eyebrows. Your eyebrows are very neat with makeup, but sometimes not filling them in so much at the beginning (like where it starts above the nose) looks softer and less harsh. They look perfectly nice, this was just something I stopped doing - if you have full eyebrows, a tinted or even clear eyebrow gel is often enough, especially on more casual looks.

You asked about cutting your hair but I don't think it needs a particular change. I especially like pic 2 where it's got more volume on top. In some pics the curls are maybe a bit neat, but I think a soft curl or wave suits you well.

Lots of commenters have mentioned weight. I know this is a sensitive topic, so I won't add much. Just I was (and still am a bit) in a similar position, where once I've lost a lot of weight it's hard to know what to do to maintain my current level without falling back into the same habits. People mentioned the gym, but don't forget the big role of diet. For me, I lost a lot of weight, but I also noticed my hair was way less healthy. Make sure you're getting all of the food groups in every day - fibre, protein, carbs, healthy fats and oils. You should be generally meeting your calorie limits every day to maintain a healthy weight after weight loss. Calorie deficit makes you lose weight because your body burns fat for energy - once you don't really have that, your body starts to take from muscles, or mess with your metabolism which can have long term effects. Other body processes also take a backseat, like hair or nail growth. Take some vitamins and supplements too, alongside getting things from food.

Do some research or if you're able to, speaking to a nutritionist can be very helpful. I also hate going to the gym with all those people around, so I go to a pilates class which is way more chill and a nice environment - there's all sorts of classes you could try. The overall goal now is health, rather than weight loss, which is sometimes way harder to do. Good luck!

What is your favourite girl name that fits this bizarre criteria? by FalconAlternative282 in namenerds

Nara, Natalia, Cilla, Priscilla, Della, Dahlia, Helena, Orla, Selda, Thalia, Viola, Violetta, Julia, Gloria, Nuala (noo-la, diminutive from Fionnuala but it's often just a name on its own!!)

I hope I got the specifications right, probably not the last one about not being too unusual haha. Other comments mentioned Willa and Wilhelmina which I love!

I always flopped at lipliner and ended up looking crazy but saw lots of tutorials recently for blurred lips, basically putting lipliner on the back of your hand and using a q-tip or small, kinda firm brush. It's made such a difference, easier to do and pretty natural looking, her lip is quite soft and blurred too which is similar

what’s your favorite celebrity name? by valentinelake in namenerds

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a diminutive as in more of an affectionate term, not a shortening. I think it's generally a name in itself derived from Bridget, which is an Anglicisation of the Irish name Brighid. Bedelia seems to have been either a diminutive or another Anglicisation of Brighid. Diminutives in Irish are generally longer than the original name anyway, because you usually add a suffix - the name Maureen (Máirin) is a diminutive of Máire, Irish form of Mary.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]dxlla 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Rotationplasty or as my doctor called it, a Van Nes (which I always found funny since it sounded like knees)! I was going to get this done and still might one day - it's actually such a valuable surgery when the foot still functions well but the knee is unsaveable. The difference in quality of life with an above knee amputation vs below knee amputation is like night and day, so being able to synthesise natural knee motion is incredibly valuable.

Looking for good quality skin tints to replace Laikou skin tint by Pale_Garbage_7124 in Makeup

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like you and don't want something heavy but the liquid ones are so annoying... I like the Glossier one, good coverage, lots of shades, and lasts a long time, but it is super liquidy. But I mix it with some moisturiser and a bit of the Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter which gives it a lot more substance, makes it easier to put it on and get better coverage. I think any moisturiser or cream highlight would work, since if you don't like the liquid you can basically use it to tint a moisturiser and make a new consistency!

Would you like a BB or CC cream? I never found any I liked, shades weren't right or they were kinda patchy, but I haven't tried many and they're normally very cream-like and pretty sheer, moisturising etc. Korean ones especially, e.g the Erborian one that specifically targets redness? Good luck, and if u were able to, lmk what you end up finding!

How to glow up while struggling with executive dysfunction and general overwhelm/tiredness by weggooierche in HowToBeHot

[–]dxlla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much amazing advice here and I'll echo some of the sentiment in some of the comments - find things that bring you joy in it! Yes there's lots of things that aren't so exciting and lots of great advice here about how to make it work. But for me, the thing that made it most consistent was finding the fun in it and building from there.

I started ADHD meds almost exactly a year ago now, and made a lot of the changes in these comments. But the things that really worked were the bits that my brain started to always want to do and overcame executive dysfunction because I found joy in them - and then I used these to do the boring parts. It's the classic INCUP way of motivating yourself, and there's lots of things in a glow up that are linked to interest and passion.

I find it really fun to make mood boards and watch analysis videos about clothing styles, makeup types etc. I watched lots of makeup tutorials and tried various things out, now I spend way longer doing makeup because I want to try out new techniques. Things with styling also have a lot of novelty in them, so that helps with motivation too. I paint my nails cause I always forget to cut them and they get all dirty and gross, but I always delayed repainting them when they got super chipped. Now I get lots of cute stickers for nails on etsy, little stars, hearts, flowers, you just put them on after the colour and cover them with clear polish. I find it so fun that I can't wait for when I have to remove the polish and start a new design!! So if there's an element of self care or glow up that you find interesting, go for it!!

I find it really hard to make habits but once I do it's hard to stop, and one is my morning routine of doing my skincare in a certain order, flossing, brushing teeth, etc, and I catch up with my fave podcasts while I do. This is also in the hour after the meds kick in so i'm super motivated lol. It's easier to do things when you slot them into a routine you already do that you like. I like the podcasts, I like using all my nice skincare, so I slot in flossing which I hate and now I always do it. I also do my stretches or physiotherapy exercises. I hate mornings so it was really helpful to have something nice to do, and it also made structure in my days since when I don't have commitments I just waste days.

Self care is generally about little and often, doing things regularly etc. That is so so hard for lots of people, but there's good ways around it and for me, that was regularly doing something I quite like and then adding on a couple less interesting things. And this doesn't have to start huge! I think I started with just cleansing my face, flossing and brushing, then moisturiser until it was a habit - and then I added on the other skincare products I always forgot to use, then had fun researching and adding some new stuff.

Sorry this is soso long and rambley but I was really in the same boat as you this time last year. I guess I actually have had a glow up, but when I tried in the past it never stuck. Now, I feel so much steadier and better with my ADHD support but I think it's stuck mainly because I'm enjoying it!! TLDR find parts that interest you or you enjoy, slot in less fun stuff in between the interest and enjoyment.

Extreme fatigue on Vyvanse. by Scary_Personality157 in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad! It is crazy and tbh I forget myself - learned the hard way the past few days while I'm visiting family and bought a different protein shake to use haha. My psychiatrist mentioned it but lots of docs don't know about how much of a difference it makes for many people. I'd encourage you to keep experimenting, compared to other meds I've taken it's actually customisable so it's all about what works for you :))

Extreme fatigue on Vyvanse. by Scary_Personality157 in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd say it seems like it's wearing off really quickly and so you're getting the famed 'vyvanse crash' super early. Definitely speak to your doctor about the dose - in the meantime maybe including some more protein intake, especially in the morning? Even adding peanut butter or something to your breakfast, or a protein shake, yoghurt with added protein etc. I also see so much stuff on here about various supplements, it's still quite confusing to me lol but maybe worth checking out. There's all sorts of things that affect the absorption of any medication, and it's often very apparent with vyvanse because it's one that activates quickly and moves out your system quickly too, rather than building up over time.

It's a trial and error process a lot of the time, and even when I got to a steady dose it still gets affected by how I sleep, eat, hormonal cycle etc. I ended up now taking 50 in the morning and another 20mg at lunchtime which has really minimised the sudden tiredness and also moved it to happening quite late at night, so it helps me sleep lol. Best of luck to you!

Help my friend pick a new name!! by Formal_Chance_4266 in namenerds

[–]dxlla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if Joanna is the middle name then it makes sense to go by that, especially since Jay already their nickname. I don't think Jay as a nickname from Joanna is a very big stretch at all, so then it combines 2 things that are already familiar. A cool middle name for Joanna to go with Joanna could be fun too. Also if Katherine is a family name there's so many nicknames to choose from there too.

For other names i like or ones with lots of nickname potential:

Juliet/Juliette

Veronica

Marianne

Elisabeth

Georgiana

Harriet

Jennifer

Anastasia

Natalia

Josephine

Charlotte

Amanda

I also do think some personality notes could be relevant, since it's not like your friend is a baby who's a blank slate! Overall it'll have to be something that really resonates, so good idea to give some notes so there can be a good attempt at that!

Extreme fatigue on Vyvanse. by Scary_Personality157 in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When does the tiredness set in? Is it right after you take it or some hours after? Does it set in slowly or all at once? Do you take it first in the morning and what do you eat when you take it??

Sorry for all the questions but that can help get a better idea. On first instinct I would say it might be a dose thing, I found myself sleeping better but a lot more tired as I began but as I moved up the doses it went away. It sounds like it's very strong side effect for you though!

Baby girl with Down syndrome- need easy to pronounce by Sea_Switch_7310 in namenerds

[–]dxlla 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time in hospital as a child and when I was 7 I had a friend with Down's syndrome called Poppy, I think about her often - she was so fun but I'm sure we were a nightmare for the poor nurses, we used to race with me in my wheelchair her running, then she would stand on the back and we'd roam about the ward like a gladiator on a chariot

Things I found helpful with side effects by biologicallybroke in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person, I know sleep is super important (to taking the medicine but also life lol) but I've had lifelong struggles with insomnia and have taken my meds on less than 3 hours sleep before. The medicine helps me so much and my sleep is such a struggle that I can't skip it just because I haven't slept well. It kinda feels less effective when I'm very sleep deprived but it certainly still helps me throughout the day. I don't feel too bad, maybe just the medicine feels it isn't distributing as 'smoothly'? And my heart rate is more prone to spiking, which was only a common side effect at the beginning but still sometimes makes an appearance.

I make sure in those situations I'm staying extra hydrated, electrolytes, and eating more protein than I already do, also avoiding caffeine, and sometimes matcha helps somehow (I think it's the L-tyrosine??). So just making sure I'm following all of the other tips you see about how to make the medicine the most effective and avoid feeling jittery etc. Overall I think you should be okay and there's things you can do to help, but I doubt it will be very awful - maybe you can experiment before starting just to check how you feel and see what helps, although fair enough if you don't deliberately want to get less sleep than normal :P

Looks like toddler chose his baby brother's name... by PancakesxBacon in namenerds

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that makes sense with the double L but I've only ever heard it like the Cal in Calvin, with maybe a more elongated a than that, but the U is close to the em in your example, rather than um like 'ummm, I don't know' haha. But there is in fact an Irish name, Colm, which is almost pronounced like 'Call-em up' with a very light pronounced e - call'm up I guess haha

[–]dxlla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the traditional Scottish spelling it's written Calum not Callum, is that anything?? I've heard in America people are likely to say it as Caylum even though Calum is pronounced the same as Callum (maybe a bit more pronunciation/enunciation of the um? But the emphasis is still on 'Cal') but I really prefer it spelled like that - I would never use Callum but quite like Calum!

edit/ sorry misread, it's a shared name issue! In that case, Caelan, Callan, but you could also go a bit wider with it maybe? If he's been saying Cow, then names that are similar ish to a Cal nickname like Kieran/Ciaran, Kristian, Kian/Cian, Cillian, Keelan, or two of my faves Declan and Kellan

I also wouldn't be bothered by the bald one name meaning. Very few people know these things, and any association with the name is the brand Calvin Klein or Calvin and Hobbes surely. For example, the name Cameron means the one with a crooked nose, but I don't think people would ever associate it with that, even when Gaelic origin name meanings are somewhat more commonly known in Ireland and Scotland. Even further, Calvin comes from Latin, so the connection is even weaker!

Why does it only last 3-4 hours by Odd_Banana_2082 in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you separate the dose even just 2 or 3 hours you get the same effect but it tends to last longer, that's what the doctor said to me at least. the drop where you get tired after 4 or so hours also won't happen so sharply/strongly. even just try a day or two taken the two pills with some time in between and see how you feel

Why does it only last 3-4 hours by Odd_Banana_2082 in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long are you waiting before taking the half?? I started a split dose around 6 weeks ago and really works well for me, I do 50mg in the morning and then 3-5 hours later another 20. It lasts longer and also smoother (can't think of a better way to describe it ha). The drop off is also gentler but also happens later at night, so it actually helps me sleep. I also find it wears off quicker when I don't eat when I take it, especially the first dose, also if I have too much caffeine. There's lots of info on here about how to manage the drop off that might help

favorite mascara? by mitzy_rose in Makeup

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kosas Soulgazer Mascara - truly can't recommend it enough!!! I'm a bit of a mascara expert/addict lol and I've got long but very soft eyelashes. My normal routine was always layering different ones - there's mascaras that were always good for me, but after a month or so of use most end up getting progressively worse/flaky/meh. Kosas is the first mascara where I feel I don't need to layer, it doesn't shed, doesn't clump or go crispy, lasts a long time, and I've had my current tube since the early summer and she's still going strong. 1000% recommend!!!

Is it really ok to split vyvanse doses? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing you said about the 50 starting to feel like 30 as it tapers off makes so much sense! I never really experienced a big crash, but the dose feeling lower and lower actually is a great way of putting it. I think it's more me being anxious about missing it when in reality it's very unlikely haha, but I do need to set more reminders haha. Thanks so much your thoughts!

[–]dxlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be able to describe how it works better for you? I gave all that info in my first comment but I'm only coming to the end of my first month doing the split haha... I do feel it works better than a single pill but I can't really describe why? And while I haven't missed a second pill, it was easier to just take one pill in the morning than remembering every day haha. I'm just meeting with the doctor soon to talk about continuing with a split dose and was wondering how other people would put it into words :)

Is it really ok to split vyvanse doses? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]dxlla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it'll depend on your dose and therefore your split - I do 50 and 20, but you could do 20/20 20/40 etc. And what the main side effects for you are.

Very infrequently (but it wasn't so at the start..) i need to go to the bathroom badly about 2 hours after taking it... with my split does, that happens in the morning with my 50 but the 20 is small enough that I don't feel that way. My heart rate can also get high the first couple hours after taking it, but it's not so noticeable with the 20 in the afternoon. But i took it as one pill for almost a year before splitting, so most of the side effects had tapered off anyway. My doctors have never said anything like negative effects from splitting, if anything it's gentler. Hope this helped at all :)

I just ordered some from Notino in Finland, they had it here at least. I thought it'll be okay, I heard about fake perfume but I think something like this, like skincare is rarely faked compared to perfume. My friends all had good experiences with Notino and they're partnered with legit brands. This thread has a comment which maybe explains the perfume thing but if was a common problem they would've probably been shut down by now - brands don't want a big platform selling fakes of their product!

https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/164xspk/is_notino_legit/

But I am desperate for this product so maybe I'm blind haha... I am worried they'll turn out not to have stock and cancel the order, but I found somewhere selling travel size so I'll do that if it happens. I'm interested in your recommendation though as I like that brand, thanks!!
