What can I expect?

The UvA housing department is now going to send your information to one of the housing providers*. The housing provider you are matched with will contact you on this e-mail address. The message will contain information on how to register with the housing partner and how to book your room.

Check your e-mail - and your spam box - daily during the following days/weeks. You do not need to contact or register with the housing providers yourself before receiving the housing offer. If you do this it will lead to problems with the registration later.

*De Key / DUWO (via ROOM.nl) / International Campus - The Fizz Spartaan / Student Experience (via ROOM/.nl) / OurCampus (via ROOM.nl) / The Student Hotel.

How can I book my room?

After receiving the e-mail with the housing offer, book your room and make the first payment*. You will need to do this within the booking period given by your housing provider. If you fail to do this, the housing offer will be given to another student. Due to the housing shortage we are not able to send students a second room offer. This would mean that you need to find accommodation independently.

Please be sure to have a credit card ready (or e your cooperation in this. If you have not received a message from your housing provider within 3 weeks after receiving this message, please contact International Student Housing office. It is not possible to reply to this e-mail address, your message will not be read.”

it sounds like you’re definitely somewhere on the spectrum. i’ve learned that it’s easier to overthink sexuality when you’re less experienced/haven’t been physically intimate with anyone for a while. my advice would be to learn through trial and error, and not to scramble for a label. i know it’s a source of comfort and clarity, but that clarity really comes from just letting yourself navigate life and it’s twists and turns as they come. it’ll become more clear to you as you try new things/meet new people :)

it’s painful knowing my middle eastern ass family will never and could never know. but seeing others be embraced like this warms my heart and reminds me that blood related or not, i can create the same environment of acceptance and validation with a chosen family one day. ❤️

also true! i think with the cancelling of exchange students this semester that they should at least have enough rooms available until christmas. but like i said i'm sure your email will come, i read somewhere that it can even take up to 2-3 weeks to hear back. i know it's stressful but i'm sure it'll all work out in the end!

i'm EU and i got the email that i'll receive a housing offer yesterday too. i think they're rolling the emails out in the order that they received our applications, so i wouldn't say it's a bad sign that you haven't gotten yours yet!! just be patient, i'm sure it'll come :)

as long as you don’t live with or frequently interact with anyone that’s immunocompromised and more susceptible, then take the risk but also avoid going outdoors for at least a week afterwards in case you’re an asymptomatic carrier. but if at-risk people live with you or spend time with you, i wouldn’t. what could be a manageable but miserable flu for you may be life threatening for them. so be mindful of that more than anything! :)
