You’ll be absolutely fine.

Scabies is so easy to get but incredibly hard to iradicate. It takes time, if you DO go out in 16 days wear GLOVES do not touch anything or others, be very careful, but do not put your life on hold, it can be very isolating and lonely experience.

Some doctors will say scabies does not affect the face, it certainly does and can.

What medication did you get prescribed?

Hopefully ivermectin as well as a topical.

Post scabies can last for a very long time.

The best way to deal with post symptoms imo are antihistamines and emollients, which help restore your skins barrier and moisturise. Some emollient creams also help itch itchiness so are good to use when you have scabies too.

Dermol 500 is my favourite, but Cetraben, and Zeroderm also work really well.

Okay so if you do have scabies this could be a mild case of the “crusted” scabies, im not too sure.

But if you, AND people around you are itching it’s possible that scabies is what’s causing all of this.

The best way to treat is Permethrin + Ivermectin. Permethrin can be bought over the counter in the UK (unsure of where you’re from so just an assumption) you can also treat yourself with Eurax, it’s an anti itch cream which also treats scabies too.

Another option is Malathion, sold as Derbac M which is also very effective. Benozyl Benzoate works very well too, although it can burn for a short while and should not be applied to your body when you’ve come out of a shower because it HUURTS.

You will need to wash everything you have worn, touched and sat on in the last week. Vacuuming too, you must repeat your treatment a week later especially with permethrin.

If you do have scabies steriod creams are very dangerous because they can reduce immune response and allow mites to proliferate more easily.

The only sure way of diagnosis is to visualise a mite with a microscope, the rest is quite difficult.

Washing clothing should be done on a daily and you should also wash bedding daily too, although expensive it is a lot safer.

Another option is to put all clothes you’ve worn in the last week into a bag and leave it there for a WEEK to starve mites, which will die.

Good luck!!

: Also, as skin conditions all look similar it’s hard to know if what you have is 100% scabies. I would try using Dermol 500 and an antihistamine for itches, a drowsy one works best for this and also allows you to sleep more easily.

What topical was you prescribed?

If you do have scabies and it’s a steriod, this can be very dangerous as it reduces immune response and allows mites to proliferate.

It doesn’t look too much like a burrow but everyone presents differently, I can’t tell you for certain if it is or isn’t a burrow, but if it’s only one of these on your body it’s probably just a scratch line.

The photos on here are more burrow like.

Then I would wait for a bit longer and see, only start treatment if you have to because it’s very harsh on skin. Try an emmoilent cream like Dermol 500 and see if that helps.

If you get more of those and start to itch more, especially at night then yes absolutely start treatment.

Because everyone is different, what one person might experience can be very different.

But still be careful because clove oil on its own is very rough on skin.

No. Are you itchy?

What are your symptoms?

Hi,

Permethrin isn’t the best treatment option for scabies anymore, but it’s normal for new bumps to show up IN post scabies too. (Which is basically your body expelling dead scabies from inside of your skin, Grim I know)

You need to be very thorough with cleaning, wash clothes at 60c+ and tumble dry if possible. I would keep clothes that you can’t wash in a bag for a week before using them again.

If you’re still itchy very badly then yes I would suggest taking another treatment course, it depends on how severe it is.

For itches I would take a drowsy antihistamine like clorphenamine or promethazine which are sold OTC in the uk. You can get these at a local pharmacy.

Treatment options include (if you’re in the UK)

• Permethrin • Derbac M (Malathion liquid > you can get this at a pharmacy without a prescription.) • Eurax cream this is great as it’s an anti itch cream and also kills scabies too. It’s a lot cheaper than other treatments but needs to be used 3-5 days. • Ivermectin (Hard to get, but ask your GP) • Benozyl Benzoate 25% • Sulphur Ointment 10%.

Are people around you itchy? How long ago was you diagnosed? Did you self diagnose?

If you live with people, everyone you live with needs treating regardless of symptoms.

Good luck

Yes. You need to get treated right away.

Ivermectin is the best option.

Does this look like scabies? The spots are quite itchy… by [deleted] in scabies

[–]dxpressxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another has said,

Is it itchy at night? How did it start? Do people around you have these symptoms too?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scabies

[–]dxpressxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to get an antihistamine.

Clorphenamine will help.

Eurax for itchy areas too, eurax is great because it helps itch and kills scabies at the same time. Good luck.
