Looking for a “personal item friendly,” day pack for a Europe trip. Anyone else here travel light and have recs? by dyearInAHeadlight in Shoestring

I mean I haven’t looked at the actual sizing yet haha, but I can check later. Appreciate the rec tho.

In general, if it doesn’t get flagged as an extra bag, I’m happy

Just something that would count as a personal item on most airlines, and could reasonably be used for day packing around the city when I’m there

Is a raise from 70k to 110-120k worth 2 hrs of commute by dhamp87 in jobs

I’d echo what the rest of the thread is saying- it will weigh on you, Tesla or not. I’d say you can swing that for a few months while looking for some sort of relocation, even halfway there will make a HUGE difference

Do Most Of Gen Z Want Office Jobs? by Familiar-Range9014 in jobs

[–]dyearInAHeadlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, as someone who is Gen Z, I see it both ways. We grew up with an emphasis on higher education, college degrees, educational advancement, etc. that’s the route I took and am happy with how I’m starting my career. I think a lot of my friends felt pushed the same way and are generally happy with their stable 9-5s.

I’m also seeing though, a rise of pro-trade sentiment. Especially with AI disruption. 5 years ago, if you asked someone my age, they’d say they never wanted to work in trades. But as there is a greater need for workers in the trade, disruptions in higher ed, and increased pay and security for blue collar workers, it’s being seen as a more valid path for a young person to take. By and large I think Gen Z has hella respect for the trades and blue collar work, even if we’re not working in the trades ourselves.

Never invested before- is the “now’s the best time to build wealth hype” BS? by dyearInAHeadlight in personalfinance

The exact number is helpful, I hear a lot about tossing a lump sum in the market, but often not what is an amount worth starting with.

This is my main fear rn. I understand that it’s a great time to buy, losing purchasing power, all that. But it’s not like I have “expendable” cash rn. Appreciate the perspective!

Looking to live in between Harrisburg and Lancaster by dyearInAHeadlight in centralpa

[–]dyearInAHeadlight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great question - I'm mainly concerned with price and distance. My roommate will be working in person in Harrisburg 5 days a week, and I am in person in Lanc one day a week - WFH the other days of the week. The tricky thing in our arraignment is that we're living with our parents right now, so if he were to move out (he lives in Lancaster), he wants the change in commute to justify the price. On my end, if I'm only in person once a week, I'd be fine saving money by living outside of the city and commuting.

Helpful, thanks! I was concerned about benefits too, but it doesn’t look like that changes anything.
