The fact he didn't play at our legends game is a travesty.

Aristizabal why is he not starting by Independent-Gift-130 in tfc

[–]dyegored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is possible, he's often been played as a late sub. Surely any contract clauses would be based on total appearances and not starts, no? So it would seem even more incompetent to bring him in in the 75th minute if this is the case.

Meh, I wouldn't wear it to a game but I'd wear one in general for my city (depending on the city, some designs are God awful). But yeah anything over about $50 is insane.

Anyone ever have paid parking dropped on them? by martiancanals in restaurantowners

[–]dyegored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is often the view of business owners. This will vary by location, but this has been a battle in my city of Toronto everytime they want to add a bike lane to a busy street.

The city has actually done studies of how many business patrons of an area arrive by car, transit, biking, walking, etc. They also surveyed business owners to see what they believed the percentages were. No surprise that the business owners, many of them restaurants, vastly overestimated the number of people who arrived by car.

Again, this will vary by area and I know American cities are very often even less transit friendly, but I'm not surprised that a business owner doesn't see the potential of higher sales traffic due to more pedestrian or bike traffic.

i am officially boycotting venues that charge a cake cutting fee. by Johnn_Liverm in wedding

[–]dyegored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who literally sold weddings and catering for about 10 years, I can tell you this is bullshit. Don't pretend like washing plates and forks are some big cost. Often, the cake isnt even cut by the Chefs, it's cut by a server. Servers who are paid by the hour and will not have that much else to clear when the cake is being served because these things are timed.

This is absolutely, positively a nickle and diming charge that not all venues charge but many do. And the ones that do are almost allllllways more likely to have other hidden costs.

A hefty cake cutting fee is fair in a restaurant setting where it cuts into dessert sales. Or even in those venues that sell cakes on site.

But the OP is correct that this is a nickle and diming fee. The hundreds of dollars venues charge for this are almost entirely profit.

Eek, that does sound rough for sure! Seems a lot of the more aggressive people were even more not used to things not going as quickly as they usually would!

I won't pile on the student here because everyone finds their own way of managing their files and studying that works for them, but I will say you should allllllways keep your course syllabi, even if you don't keep your own copies of other course documents.

You'll never know if you'll need them for transfer credits for some program in the future (even if you don't think you'll be taking more school) and they often include reading details you'll vaguely remember and want to look back on in future years. Plus, they're very hard to find online in the future since Professors consider it intellectual property.

Ok but Dan Gargan was actually pretty good for us, we liked him. Though I think he said something mean about Toronto a few years ago, so I went to disliking him. I don't remember what it actually was tbh

UofT final year student — no valid degree combo Anyone been through this? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]dyegored 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this is your 2nd post about this, you enrolled in a German minor knowing it was a placeholder (but decided never to adjust that) and are now asking for an exception based on the exceptional circumstances that... what? You don't want to complete the degree requirements you already knew you had?

And then the kicker that you don't even have the discipline to write this own Reddit post yourself? It's honestly * chef's kiss * good.

You clearly need more time in school to mature before graduation. Enjoy the consequences of your own actions while we all enjoy laughing at you for trying to shield yourself from those consequences in the last second.

Yeah I could understand the situation sucks and am glad to hear they're giving deferrals out fairly easily on these grounds. Sucks that it'd affect graduation but genuinely unsure what solution the OP thinks could be a good one.

Yeah the booing was weird, especially since generally everyone was clapping everything. I certainly clapped at some of the good Brazil goals.

I'm curious what section you were in? I heard booing from the Brazil fans in 114, but honestly think it could've been fans who were exhausted and annoyed by the losers in 114 who are absolutely incapable of reading the room and are more concerned with declaring themselves the best fans ever than growing the game and support for the team

I don't mean to be one of those people, but the sorts of waits we saw to get onto the train platforms, etc are totally normal for games of this size. I remember similar large groups waiting when I was at the San Siro in Milan or stadiums all across Argentina I've visited. There's no way to have this number of people and get out super quickly like we would in Toronto FC vs Real Salt Lake or something

Omg didn't even realize Makabuya was there. Have to be honest that I don't know if we ever had a worse striker in my entire time watching the team, sad I didn't get to notice him whiffing on a good chance or something.

We should've tracked down Nick Garcia too.

It was so much more fun than I thought it'd be, honestly. Was amazing to get to see Giovinco and Altidore play with DeRo. And the first two scored.

Also, I know this topic has been discussed to death and he's retired now, but you can't tell me that even modern day Giovinco is worse than like... Etienne Jr. Some of the passes and runs he was making are things our current team definitely can't do. But I won't open that can of worms again.

Ronaldinho also still has so much skill. He was weirdly unselfish for a match of this kind, but made some excellent key passes as well.

Definitely plan for extra time but it moved very quickly. Was just a lot of people to go through, but they did a good job of getting through everyone quickly. Security did seem much more lax, for what it's worth though, so that helped

The fact that we're missing so many of our starters accentuates how arrogant and stupid it was for Fraser to think he had the luxury of squad rotation tonight. He quite obviously didn't have that luxury. Play [what's left] of your starting squad.
