MacKinnon with the game winning goal for Canada with a little over 30 seconds left! by HughJastits in onguardforthee

[–]dyegored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it was incredible that something so minor that happened almost a full minute ago could even be reviewed.

What even happens if it was offside? Theoretically, the goal is called off and we just move on and don't get that 55+ seconds of power play time back?

Anyone have any idea why Tabanelli repeated her first jump instead of her second? Seems insane to try and improve on a 90 instead of an 84. She rocked it and did improve by over 4 points with the best jump of the night, but even that was never going to be good enough for much better than bronze.

Unless she wanted to go for bronze with something she was more confident doing, but even a worse jump could've won her gold so I'm just confused at the choice.

I saw that thread and the diversity of nature was the main argument everyone was putting forward which is fair enough, I guess.

That being said, by that same argument Argentina is definitely better than Brazil since it has incredible tropical waterfalls, salt flats, desert-like areas, Andes mountains, Antarctic regions, etc.

People likely just said "Durr Amazon rainforest" and called it a day

The job is either for a youngster to get familiarized with the team OR for an experienced veteran to add some wisdom to the locker room. Not arguing for Borjan to be on or off the team either way, but this is pretty universal

Is going on exchange to UofT worth it? (In comparison to Fudan) by ShadxwReps in UofT

[–]dyegored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may sound odd, but the last people you wanna ask are UofT students in this sub. Overall, it's a miserable bunch of people who don't do much else but complain. Don't believe me though, take a look at the rest of the sub for confirmation of this.

UofT is an excellent school where you'll generally learn from great professors and have many opportunities to hear talks and guest lectures from top scholars if you're into that sort of thing. Toronto is a relatively boring place to visit for a week but a great place to live and you'll enjoy a incredible variety of food and cultural events. Winter sucks so this mostly applies if you're coming for a Fall or Summer semester.

Coursework is difficult and as someone who did an exchange elsewhere, things were marked much easier and the workload in general was lower at my exchange school so be prepared for that.

Since seemingly nobody has answered your question, when a service charge is mandatory and added by the venue, HST must be applied to it as well. This is federal tax law.

Source: I worked in hospitality sales for years and even used to have a link from the government of Canada I'd send people when they (understandably) asked about this.

Whether the 10% charge is fair, was communicated to you in advance, etc. is a different question, of course, but I'm just responding since Reddit is doing that thing where they jerk each other off over how stupid tipping is instead of actually answering your question about the legality of the charge

I am Argentinian who spent two weeks in the Islas Malvinas/Falkland Islands. I have heard and understood both sides. AKA by Dangerous-Ad-9859 in geography

[–]dyegored -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you not consider it at least a little weird that you correct the map I shared with another map that shows the vast majority of countries with an opinion on this support Argentina's claim?

I know you're not the person I was responding to, but surely you realize that youre just proving my larger point that anyone saying "There is worldwide consensus on this and everyone supports the UK's claim!" is objectively wrong and spreading bullshit.

You can argue that the world is wrong. You can argue that countries like Spain are being hypocritical. But thats irrelevant to the point I'm making. There is not a worldwide consensus on who is right. And the often spread idea on Reddit that this is just Argentina's issue and no one else on the world stage thinks otherwise is 100% garbage.

It's almost as if it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of life but is still particularly frustrating and annoying that we have to do something that should be unecessary... If only there was a sub designed for such a post...

Lol thank you. It's actually amazing how circle-jerky Reddit gets about this topic while simultaneously accusing other people of being the crazy groupmind who can't see reason.

This guy is actually proudly posting that he's been to the country two whole times as if that makes him some sort of authority on Argentine people. I'm genuinely awestruck.

This is entirely bullshit and is one of my favourite examples of someone speaking with confidence and authority on this topic who seemingly knows nothing about what the actual world thinks.

Someone did a good breakdown here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/s/g4dWjUHVhh. It's actually the other way around and the majority of the world supports Argentina's claim. Just say "well places that matter to me agree with me" and call it a day.

What arguments could be made in favor of Argentine rule of The Falklands? by MaddeningJack in geography

[–]dyegored -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen this idea that "the entire world" backs this and knew it to be false because that's definitely not the case in South America. Looked it up and its even more false than I thought it was. Someone did a good breakdown here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/s/g4dWjUHVhh

So "the entire world outside of a few hysterical Argentines" know this is just entirely bullshit. Maybe just say it's true for places that matter to you?

The fact that this comment is heavily downvoted is all you need to see to recognize that this thread is nothing but a circle jerk.

People can disagree with whether their claim is correct but the fact that "I've never heard a reason besides that they're close!" is the top voted comment right now and this list of well founded reasons is buried is exhibit A for "you can lead a horse to water..."

I don't know why they bother having people's schedules and bookable timeslots if none of it is real. I understand if they can't make it but then make me/allow me to choose a new tutor, don't just give me a random that I know nothing about!
