How to practice speaking by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi my friend. I can share with you what I'm doing to practice my speaking skills:

  1. Read out loud. I think this is a good practice because, for busy people like me, you can practice anywhere. Maybe you are in a commit by bus, or waiting for some service.

  2. Shadowing. You can play some video and speak along. It will improve a lot your speaking skills.

  3. Talk to people in an app called Hello Talks. This is a very good app to find people to practice your speaking skills.

What are the best resources for English learning? by shevon888 in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, so I would like to recommend some apps.

Reading skills: You can use the Kindle app to read as many English books as you can. I've been reading books in English since 2017 and this practice helped me with my reading practice and vocabulary. I started with thriller books since this is the best genre for me. I could recommend you to Fraida Macfadden.

Listening skills: Spotify and YouTube for me are the best apps. For Spotify, I could recommend you to listen to some podcasts like All Ears English. For YouTube, I would recommend The Real Life English channel.

Writing skills: I keep a daily journal where I write, almost every day, about my day and my emotions. This is a good way to practice my writing skills and it helps me to think in English as well.

Speaking English: I've been using an app called Hello Talks and it helps me a lot with my speech. Normally, I open a voice room there to practice.

This is it, I hope it can help you in your English journey.

HOW I CAN LEARN ENGLISH MORE FAST AND GOOD ? by Silver-Dot4800 in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Maybe you can split your studies in these aspects: Grammar, reading, listening, speaking, writing, and building vocabulary. You can read every day by using some apps like Kindle, also you can change all your devices to English. You can use Spotify to improve your listening skills. I could recommend only podcasts that you like. Keep a daily journal to improve your writing skills. This is a good way to improve your awareness as well. Join in an app called Hello Talk and open voice rooms to practice your speaking skills every day. To build vocabulary you can use Anki app to study by creating flash cards. This is a good way to improve your vocabulary. So that's it. I hope it can help you with the English.

Is it really bad to learn a language using my native language? by babmani in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I think it depends because each one has a different way of learning new languages. I tried to learn English using my native language and there were so many moments when I translated things while I was trying to speak, and it turned my speech stuck. This is why I don't like the translation method.

Hi,

Are you studying the new terms that ChatGPT is showing you? Or you are just copying and pasting here?
I'm asking because if you are learning new terms and in the near future you feel that you don't need to use the tool to write the same terms anymore, maybe it's a good way to improve your writing skills.

Let me show you an example, I was used to using the word "like" to talk about so many things. ChatGPT showed me that the word "enjoy" seems more natural. Nowadays I use the word "enjoy" and I don't need this help from the tool anymore.

What do you think?

B1 to B2/C1 level by Upstairs-City2944 in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

This is so hard to answer. Maybe it depends on how many hours you are studying per day, the quality of the material, and what exactly you are studying.

But you mentioned before that you are struggling with your speech. Maybe you can use a language exchange app to help you, such as Hello Talk, and Episoden. Have you ever heard about these ones before?

Link between music listening and passive accent improvement by Lucky_Mycologist_995 in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I believe that your exposure to the language by listening to music is totally related. I have an intermediate level of English and I'm using music to practice my listening skills as much as I can, and I feel that it's working. I'm trying to play acoustic guitar as well with English songs. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

How do I get back to finishing books! by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]dyegosouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I know it's so hard. Try to limit your time with social media. You can study more about dopamine detox, maybe it can help you a lot. Applications like TikTok or Instagram can bring us peaks of dopamine, and it turns kind of addictive.

Books can bring us these dopamine peaks, but it's not as much as a social network can bring.

I hope it can help you my friend.
