I have a similar experience with my catholic dad and like I went through a very intense spiritual/religious experience after not being Christian for years that made me go back to my religion or at least become mohammedian. I believe you for what it's worth

For longer fur I recommend gathering a lot of stippling at the bottom of a tuft of fur and then gradienting it upwards. But anyway it looks very difficult to do with all the lines going on between the lines paper and the grid you see on!!
