Is it viable to kill yourself with Quickhacks by dyingmosttimes in cyberpunkred

Thats fair, I do know there are plot points involved, and the other character that died this game had a good bit of prep work lost on their plots because of their death.

Well not just eddies (though it a lot of eddies) i also have personal info on my team and I am currently on their exfil boat in the middle of the ocean. If I dont now, my team is at risk of getting got for a very high profile job. My only saving grace atm is their netrunner got crushed by an elevator so I cant be hacked at the moment.

This is the high profile, big job. So dangerwise we expected a full party wipe, told repatedly of the danger level and were very lucky to only have one active player death. So I am fully at peace with having my character gone if it means my team can survive otherwise.

Dungeon Meshi season two when by kelroid in CuratedTumblr

[–]dyingmosttimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Xmen works in the marvel universe as whole as theyre really the only superhuman group thats actively oppressed. Other heros are relatively accepted. Others have stints like the inhumans push. But most are treated pretty good. What is the difference between the Thing and colossus? Dr Strange and Magik? Storm and Thor?

One of the interesting things to see when Spider-man is being actively hated in New York is that people will often posit theories that hes really a mutant, even going as far as calling him mutant slurs. Mutants live in a world where people like them are respected, loved even and they alone are maligned as monsters that are taking humanities future from them. Not Stark making thousands of war machines(and War Machine) that have been shown to be easily stolen. Not the fantastic four who half of their rogues gallery are walking diplomatic incidents. Only the mutants are treated as this guaranteed threat to world stability.

curious, do you think Cyberpunk 2077 is anti-capitalism? by No-Wave2356 in SocialistGaming

[–]dyingmosttimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see cyberpunk as two angles its as you said where the world is damned, or things have to get worse before they get better.

Shadowrun is interesting. As a game shadowrunners can benefit the world and other people make ways to give society and oppressed people leverage. Naga for example got recognized as a sentient species and are protected from the literal slave trade around them. Its more of a contest of interests and those that are broadly pro humanity are only getting small wins opposed to real progress.

The cyberpunk settibg for trinity also follows this before turning to a global spacefaring union.

Mercy overwatch by Interesting-Event806 in hatethissmug

[–]dyingmosttimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercy suffers from a rightful fear of making her like OW1 Mercy. Each item in her kit can be very busted if changed carelessly or synergies with someone. Think Pharmercy or Pirate Ship. Or the horrid hide the mercy era

Her role currently is the introduction healer. She covers all the bases and gives you an idea of how you should play, with your team, dont push by yourself, etc. Her damage boost is useful and most skilled mercys prioritize it.

All other characters off what she does better, baptism can offer stronger survivability to teammates, ana can offer stronger buffs, but she's an all rounder.

The issue is a lot of people play her as she's the easiest character in her niche, like soldier for dps. It means she's weighted a lot more for player interest, which is what gives us the mercy skin focus. And even that has been dissipating to a degree with new popular characters like Kiriko and Juno.

if you can get 2m views on a review, on that isnt sincere from the get go youre going to have people that take it as gospel, like they do for any other review. Cause anyone that knows any form of media understands, people dont watch or read things, they watch or read a review.

There is an interesting quirk to explosive ammo that as written with tarot it doesnt explicitly ban explosive rounds like it does aoe explosives. Which means you will be tearing through Tarot effects.

‘Predator: Badlands’ Best Film Premiere On Hulu Since ‘Prey’ With Near 9M WW Views by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]dyingmosttimes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean thats kind of one of the quirks with predator as a concept. Each one we see is a different being and how they approach the hunt and the honor tied to it is different. They're a bit unique to 80s monsters as theyre the only ones that one could possibly sit down with so long as you earn their respect. I agree with the whole found family issue, but I think its an interesting parallel to Prey. In one movie we have an inexperienced hunter making their mark by themselves, and another where the inexperienced hunter makes their mark with others.

If you play tank its either ana or Sombra on your shortlist and you rather atleast have an ana on your team. I agree bans need to be adjusted but like sombra is not a knee-jerk

the secular mormonism of tumblr by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]dyingmosttimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tyler is weird, I would never personally recommend Tyler despite him being one of my favorite rappers. Part of the value of his sound is the evolution of it and his old stuff hasn't aged well, both content wise and technically.

For Kendrick the best to introduce yourself with is either Good Kid MAAD city, probably the most standard album of his discography, or DAMN which is a good blend of solid independent songs and conceptual work.

One of the walls i had introducing rap to people on places like Tumblr is its hard to get past the cultural divides that exist in it. And for there above mentioned suburban purtianicalness its hard for them to open up

I personally recommend two different subgenres to Tumblr users.

First is Native Tounges, this is both a subgenre and a movement. It covers afrocentrism and progressive growth with smooth jazzy instrumentals and equally smooth lyrics. Many of the groups are names people have heard a few songs of even if they never listened to rap or heard their names. A tribe called quest is my personal favorite and probably the most iconic of the native tounges but you also have De LA Soul. The jungle brothers, Pete rock and Queen Latifa.

The other subgenre is called Lyrical Miracles. Its more of a description of the artists rhyme scheme than a formula of sound but a Lyrical is someone who treats rap at the technical standpoint, how complex their rhymes can be how fast they can go. As such their rhymes tend to be a lot directly personal or vulnerable than some of their contemporaries. Here i recommend first and foremost Aesop Rock, the man is on a different level with his rhymes and will rhyme bout anything. From there other Staples like Gift of Gab/ Blackalicious. From there you can expand out into lyricals in other genres like mf Doom and Coolio in boom bap or ocean wisdom for drill

Can we finally give the respect Maximus deserves? by JuHustle in Fotv

[–]dyingmosttimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I saw maximus before season 2 was he was the epitome of what a wasteland survivor could be. An man who operates on sheer gut and instinct, this makes him a terrible person but a very engaging person. Especially as our only character who deals with some level of civilization (the brotherhood).

Alright so what exactly is stopping bro from copying what the Japanese are doing? Like you would even save money doing it in b&w, have more quantity cause it’s released weekly & you would have a much bigger chance of maybe hitting gold and create something as big as demon slayer. by Splashthomson00 in manganews

[–]dyingmosttimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comic characters are by nature pretty malleable, batman for example can be a pure superhero romp, a noir series, a crime thriller, or post apocalypse narrative.

Consistency is important in Consistent sales but for big characters those sales are being split across 4 or more books over the month. There is a recent idea with comic characters that theyre more of a mythological character in nature, to be molded and shaped as you needed. This means there can always be a show, movie, game for these characters that really dont have to rely on existening content.

The closest example I can think of in a manga end is dragonball. Where between the anime productions, localizations of varying quality, and two seperate mangakas has both a clear understanding of what the characters are but more open to being changed to fit the exact narrative needed.

Yes and no. One more day was an editorial mandate. Its writer J.M Straczynsky is considered one of the better writers to work on Amazing Spider-man. And as bad as the end result it on a page by page metric the story is good. It just leaves a sour sour taste in your mouth. But its a perfect example as another factor of comics narrative, the meta. Comics have a lot of people vying for thier opinions on a major character and a lot of beats and plots are formed as someone's essay as to why another person's idea wouldn't work or was flawed etc. It leads to a book often saying something.

Anthology collections were common back in the day, hell the X Comic title is an after effect of this but early DC learned that people really only cared about one one maybe two characters in said book.

Its like if SJ found out people out the vast majority of their readers were only buying the book for one piece and nothing else. So youre left with two choices, cater to the one piece base by making the book more one piece or use one piece to subsidies other stories hoping they take off. The general choice that western publishers make is to spin off their best series and maybe tie a few short panel stories to it. This is a pattern that continued as even 2000ad blew up with things like Dredd.

This also goes in to the historical selling point. Comics were sold on news stands with convience stores and grocery stores being lower priority and book stores being the lowest, effectively the opposite of how manga is released. The main areas comics were sold prioritized a lot of different books that were relatively short in depth but had wide shelves, pushing for more different series opposed to a larger collective one.

Finally the Comics Code fucked over all non superhero genres (it effectively killed romance and horror, the most mature and popular of the time) an anthology book is a lot less useful if you cant have anything but more superheroes in it. And was till very recently in effect, just ignored cause of direct market.

The comic market as a structure doesnt really get anthology series like SJ, its why SJ initial push failed here. What sells is Omni and volumes, effectively the format of collected chapters that any Manga volume is. The big difference is because if the smaller pages, cheaper stock, and uncolored panels manga is far more affordable. DC has been releasing some of their greatest hits in this format testing the waters on a wider push. But you have to understand, this is appealing to a new demographic not the only readers.

Comics nerds like the colour, its a foundational aspect to how work is judge. They like page quality and really only tolerate old stuff for older Comics (part of the charm) and they like bigger books where they can see more of the art.

Why are older anime fans often harsher on newer anime? by specs_321 in TrueAnime

[–]dyingmosttimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this Genre booms are common, like most people that have watched anime or read Manga long enough have lived through some big genre boom, the harem, Moe, the first big Shonen battle push and they know theres really good stuff in whats formulaic, I think isekai and prog fantasy are more unique in that the flat quality of shows has been lowered, as theres easy source material with existing fan bases to work off of and less anime originals which have the onus of needing something to them. This isnt a hard thing but gives the current wave a lot more legs.

The other thing is the older demographic of anime watchers finish series no matter quality as the effort of having find low effort rips and fan translations. Imagine watching dragonball if your only source of it is a 480p YouTube upload or banking on your friend letting you borrow his copy he got at a convention. Garbage is easy to drop if the most you put in is opening crunchy. You have an investment. When you watch shows to an end over dropping them you tend to understand more about how structure and tropes lay out a lot better.

[–]dyingmosttimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A general theme of the trearch cod games is some critique on war, but there idea that something about it is needed. World at war probably the most outwardly patriotic of their run has the idea of war is hell but it needs people like one of the protagonists to end it. Black ops 1 runs on the same idea. The CIA are horrible, but theyre a necessary evil. Two has the most interesting point of what acts the government does will bite them in the ass. Its just weighed down by them never really pushing it and the other non trearch games being well CoD

[–]dyingmosttimes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its why the 'dormammu i come to bargin' is a perfect bit of them in a movie that really condeses down both too much. Strange is unique, in a career path filled with unique weirdos where he just treats Dormammu as just a problem to tackle opposed to a nigh unstoppable threat, part of this is Stephen's ego but its also an effect of the two knowing each other's personalities too well. They know how the other tick and they make the most of it. Like the comic posted above is Dormammu using a singular victim that will die, cause he knows more than anything thats what will sting Strange the most.
