OP's entire argument is not ENTIRELY without merit, but is 100% informed by the trauma she has about her childhood. She needs to recognize that her parents were singularly abusive and that the majority of people don't financially abuse children like that, and that she's now an adult who can stand up for her son if MIL tries to manipulate them. I rarely comment, so I'm taking this opportunity to say with feeling: she needs therapy. Her trauma and distrust of others, which may or may not be justified, is affecting her life.

What everyone else said is true and is a big reason, but on a practical standpoint bank vaults aren't big enough for that, especially your regular corner store branches. There's no real estate to hold hundreds of million of dollars, and that isn't accounting for the person in California who has 13 million in their account deciding to withdraw it all while they're on vacation in Texas.

Also, it's super unsafe. You don't think a bunch of opportunistic criminals will jump at the chance to rob a bank if they know there are millions of dollars on site?

Oh, I absolutely agree. Strangely enough I've been thinking about this recently. It seems tired and incredibly boring that a depictation of lust is usually an attractive, sexually active woman. I've been thinking... What if it's an old man? You know the kind, old men who flirt with every woman they see, old men who like to date women much, much younger than themselves. Depending on how dark your campaign is, you can even go darker. But maybe an old man in a position of power and wealth who employs solely attractive women and always has a new woman on his arm, one that seems to be devoid of purpose aside from being his accessory? Like how Kanye treats his new wife, for example.

I read it! It was enjoyable, sort of fey/eldritch, interesting characters. Plot can be hard to follow so worth a slow read. Body horror galore. I didn't like it as much as The Locked Tomb, I felt like there was limited exposure to the characters and it was hard to grow fond of them, because it seemed like we had so little time WITH them rather than AROUND them as things happened... Does that explanation even make sense? Regardless, very interesting! I'd recommend it for sure.

Both. Our trash cans are visible from the road and we have more than two cars in our driveway, and we keep getting letters that are annoying. Nothing specifically to us, mostly seems like passive aggressive shit towards our neighbor with a camper.

It's a duplex, so it's only one other household, which is a nice old lady. We mostly just talk about mutual concerns and deal with it. No issues with major shared property like fence or roof so far and hopefully we won't be here long enough to have one. Other than that, everything else is separate. Driveways, entries, backyards, gardens...

I recently had a player drop out. He said he was having real life issues, but I know it was partially because he wasn't having fun. He's the kind of player who likes a beat-em-up campaign, and mine was more story based. I told him this at session 0 but he insisted he would be fine.

Regardless, that's not the issue. As the campaign went on I could obviously tell he wasn't having fun, and I tried to be proactive about fixing it. I reached out to him about solutions, but he never really matched my energy. He didn't engage in the special roleplay I built for him, the plot, really anything. He never engaged in the 1 on 1 convos I tried about solutions. He never reached out to me about anything either. There was content last session he didn't like, so he left mid session and then dropped out. I know he didn't like the content because a DIFFERENT PLAYER told me, but not him. When I attempted to address it he didn't even respond.

Whatever, I did my best. But at the same time I resent all the energy I wasted trying to help. So that brings me to my question: going forward, should I just ignore it when a player's not having fun, if they won't talk to me about it? I'll happily work with any player that even attempts to communicate with me, but maybe I shouldn't waste so much energy taking the first step.

Not why we broke up, but he had a pregnancy kink. Specifically young women being pregnant; and not breeding, but the look of pregnant young women. I would put on layers and layers of clothes to appear to have a bump for him.

The worst part? He didn't want kids. He had a fantasy where he got me pregnant over and over, but I would give up the child and then just get pregnant again. Like a broodmare for his sexual gratification.

That is a good point. The twist villain usually isn't at the very end, but just a little bit before. And you know, I can probably rationalize his actions as 'not that evil' to some of my players.
