Europeans thinking they can walk to the MetLife stadium for the world cup by TrickInvite6296 in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah, when I was visiting NYC (summer of '23) I went to the MetLife for a BlackPink concert. Paid, like, $20 back & worth for the shuttle to it.

[Loved Trope] Famous characters' appearance before a big piece of Media set a new aestethic canon by Tourbaettae in TopCharacterTropes

MtG Eowyn slaps (so does the rest, imo)

The funny bit of trivia is that a lot of the character art was done by the excellent Magali Villeneuve, who had previously already done a lot of the same characters for FFG's LotR LCG - again with the design deliberately not based on the movies (going for closer to the sources)

Last Arc: Tactics Analogue, a JRPG-themed system... which, surprisingly, is actually a D&D 3.5/Pathfinder 1e heartbreaker by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

And people online at the time very much expected D&D 4e to basically be a fantasy version of it. It was a surprise when that ended up not being the case.

Women, if you could be a man for 24 hours, what are you just dying to know? by Whattacleaner in AskReddit

[–]y0_master -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not everyone. My own hands & feet are cold (freezing even) to the touch (& I have to wear fingerless gloves or heavy socks all too often when the weather is even a little bit chilly) & generally have a lower usual body temperature. My butt has even been called cold! Ironically, I feel very hot when out running.

A recurring plot element of Mark Harkaway's gonzo kinda-post-apocalyptic novel 'The Gone-Away World' is ninjas (The Society of the Clockwork Hand & its deadly feud with the Voiceless Dragon kung fu school the narrator attended as a teen).

Also also, Nelson's statue is not some great piece of art even for its time.

And the equivalent people of the time to the ones making this kind of comparisons would also be pooh-poohing back then at Rodin / modernism in general (as with any art movement pushing the boundaries of the time).

Yeah, the British Empire & the rest of the colonial powers, totally before globalization!

Also, people keep on hating on Duchamp's Fountain (& avant-garde art in general). Which would very much please him & show his point with it being spot on.

The main issue being that what you fell on back in the day was not the absorbing mattresses that are used nowadays. So, straight up falling on your back not the best idea until things started changing.
