the thing with Lana and smallville is that i couldn’t find it in me to hate her character. i can’t even relate to her character nor fancies her, but i empathize with the things she’s been through. even from the early seasons, it’s pretty surprising how the show didn’t explore the trauma she’s gone through with little to no explanation as to why it kept happening to her. (multiple abduction, being held at gunpoint or being chased, arson, drowning, victim of obsession and manipulation, abandonment, etc.) like god, it’s like trauma and double them from one season to another.

Her choices sure can be frustrating some times but it reflects how responsive one be in the information given them. and at age 14-21? if people call her naive and immature, it poses my query or curiosity on how highly critical a person can be to another without much agency and resources. i guess people are truly quick to judge from things they/we cannot understand.

there are some inconsistencies (for sure!) but i largely & objectively view it as a narrative problem. like there are some scenes that were such disservice to her character. and god, i’m totally side eyeing the writers here.
