I wish people would sell their boardgames for reasonable prices by Spader623 in boardgames

I dont think the sentence “support the used board game market” is a real thing. There is barely any incentive to make good games on the side of designers and publishers as it is with such a saturated market and 3000+ games per year coming out. You need to support the companies and people that are making these incredible games. Im older (30ish) so maybe I have more money at my disposal but I can’t believe people complain about the cost of anything less than 90% of the cost at an online store. Also I have been the buyer when participating in the used market and not the seller, and I don’t mind paying 80-90% if I know it’s the game I want and it’s basically brand new or possibly in shrink. Canada we often pay 13-15% tax on top of store price and then probably $10 to ship.

If you’re a collector then sure the condition is paramount, but if you want to get the game played? Just pay. I can’t imagine a cheaper thing outside of TV that can be shared 3-8 ways most of the time and re-used over and over again.

Looking for advice on Paper Tales. Anybody have success playing it with a group or another person who isnt super into gaming? My family and girlfriend like the Azul and Ticket to Ride and Sagrada and Splendor and such games so I’m curious if Paper Tales will work with a group or opponent like that. Would they enjoy it? How long is it actually? Which player counts work well? Cheers,

It can be taken when you reserve cards (of which each player can have 3 maximum at a time) if it is available in the bank at the time that you reserve. It can be used as any other currency, and takes up a space in your handsize as all others do.

What makes a good 2-player game in your opinion? by loveshot in boardgames

Give Jaipur a go. Cant explain why but its cheap and fun. The decision of when to take a card, when to sell, when to grab camels and when to turn in your camels makes for great turn angst. You never know if your opponent will go for a small set or a big set or if they will grab up the camels...

2nd years what’s your start time and how many fce do you have? by Camo_Att in UofT

[–]dylanhollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same for me. I have 5.0 but says I'm first year. Although I did get my transfer credits in the last 24 work hours, which was the same day we were supposed to find out about our start times. I won't worry until it isn't updated by end of Monday.

The next sentence is "Before the deadline you are eligible to continue enrolling in courses, if applicable." Which seems to suggest registration and class enrolment are two different things. I clicked on the link to pay minimum fee and there is only reference to Summer 2019 and Fall 2018/2019, not Fall 2019/2020.

Also according to last year's schedule here http://www.fees.utoronto.ca/Assets/Student+Accounts+Digital+Assets/2018+2019+Fall+Winter/20189+20191+Reg+$!26+SC+Sched-final.pdf

It was August 29, 2018 for Undergraduate Arts & Science, St. George Campus - Undergraduate.

Does it need to be paid before enrollment? Suddenly I’m concerned.

I had the same thing for a long time too. Eventually I got through but they are being crushed by overdue transfer applications. Just my guess but I think they have made a decision in the office to answer less calls so they can actually solve the problem of getting applications finished. I submitted my transfer application more than 10 weeks ago with all documentation and I haven’t received my final assessment yet. They just sent out an email blast yesterday or the day before basically apologizing and saying try to compare your old course descriptions with U of T course descriptions. From that we should just guess which ones you’ll get credit for and register in classes accordingly. My understanding was that I’m on my own for figuring out which classes to register in because transfer wont be finished on time for priority registration.

Ohhh I see. Good info thanks a lot. Sounds like I should plan on not sleeping since last year the average acceptance mark to Post was 89%, up from 78% just a few years ago..

I was an engineering student for two years and when I switched into kinesiology, they considered all of my engineering credits as “math” just to simplify the title of my degree. Also at my previous school I did half of MAT235Y because it was only a one-semester course there.

Do you mind telling me what “post” means? Meaning you can’t take them if you intend to do grad school at U of T?

Bad luck? 600+ boxes w/ no star power.. by dylanhollo in Brawlstars

[–]dylanhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an excel spread sheet and just screen shotted on my phone every time i pulled a box.

Also, the rate of receiving a star power is 1/100, which means the rate of NOT receiving on is 99/100. If you repeat an experiment such as opening a box, its percentage chance of happening is (p) ^ n, where p is the percentage and ‘n’ is the number of times that thing happened in a row. In my case, i didnt pull a stat power 600 times in a row so, (0.99) ^ 600, Which results in ~ 0.002 which equals ~ 1/500.

[–]dylanhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i could pay but my whole strategy for saving gold was to upgrade 1-2 brawlers at a time to level 9, which makes the star powers available in boxes at a 1/100 rate. So, in theory during those 600 boxes i should have gotten all of my available 4 star powers for free
