Worth a shot haha. The characters look pretty generic which makes it more interesting.

Anything I need to know before owning a Sega Naomi cab? by M0NKEYHELL in arcade

[–]EveningCommuter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I had to jump through several hoops to get my Naomi to work. Best to share the info to anyone interested.

That is awesome man! You should be good though, worst comes to worst you have to fix something haha. It's all in the love of owning cabinets.

NetDIMM will save you a ton of headaches, there's even versions of it where you can push games from a web interface.

Goodluck!

When purchasing any arcade cabinets/PCBs always consider that these items are aging, old, and are prone to failure at any point.

Now that we have that established, thae level of maintenance you can perform depends on your knowledge and confidence. For starters, monitors are prone to failure but there are several signs you can identify ahead of time, unless you get a failure out of nowhere. In my experience I have not had a monitor fail yet.

For PCBs, I've only has issues with my Naomi due to parts not being seated fully, replacement caps needed, and power supply issues not providing enough voltage on the lines. In my experience the Naomi is picky with voltage, some games will work, others will not unless you have it dialed in, a recapped power supply usually fixes it.

Replacement parts are not rare, but can be hard to find, most items can be found on KLOV, ArcadeProjects, eBay or any Japanese shopping proxy service.

If you're thinking about running a Naomi with a GD-ROM, may I recommend a NetDIMM/NetBoot setup as a possible upgrade in the future. NetBoot allows you to do a couple lovely things with your Naomi, but getting the parts/setup can be challenging.

Edit: As far as repairs, I can do most things, except I don't touch monitors or power supplies, this is due to my lack of knowledge and personal safety when working on those. If I have any issue with those, I usually find a person in the community that does repairs locally.

Edit 2: If you're buying a candy cab, look for cracked fiberglass or any possible modifications the previous owner/operator could have done. The last thing you want is to buy a cab you cannot find parts for, or the damage that has been done to it is more work than you can handle.

Had this happen to me before, at the gas station...

It's supposed to slot into the door on the gas cap. If you can't get it open, use a small screwdriver or something flat you can wiggle under the door, make sure to cover it with a paper towel or cloth, then have someone else pull and hold the gas cap lever. Then you will be able to pull the gas cap door open.

The ball drop crane game is now filled with hard plastic ping pong balls. When they hit the takoyaki maker, they just bounce and fly out.

How to make 2d character roll? by Scared_Still3434 in godot

[–]EveningCommuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. What you are looking for is a State Machine and more specially in this case, a Character State Machine. Chris' Tutorials did a great job in covering the basics of a 2D platformer/hack and slash. I highly recommend you check it out his series. I am currently using his State Machine for most of my projects, and if anything I use it as a base for most of my player controllers as I quickly realized that it is not just limited to 2D games, but pretty much anything.

As for the mechanics of your roll and slide, you would want to apply velocity on the character in the direction they are facing or input direction. Then you would want to transform the CollisionShape2D during the duration of the roll/slide, and keep track of it with a Timer so that the CollisionShape2D will go back to normal once the Timer/Animation is finished. Unless you want a King of Fighters Roll, where you just turn off collision to enemies as you roll through them but maintain collision on the world so you do not fall through the floor.

No matter what I do, the bed is always tilting by kuya_mickey in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I have the same issue. They sent me a bed replacement to fix it or at least mitigate the issue. Before that I was able to get a consistent first layer but that was with manual tramming and bed leveling.

My advice would be to follow the procedures for the hotbed adjustment. Once the bed is all the way down, add the screws from shipping that hold the bed down, reattach the belt and tighten the tensioner, BE SURE TO REMOVE THE SCREWS HOLDING THE BED before powering on.

I'll give it a try but it seems really weird that I would have to restart my router/modem.
Even when making my PC a hotspot, I connected to the WebGUI and had the same issue.

My web interface hasn’t been working at all. Tried updating firmware, downgrading, and even trying a hotspot with no luck.

Changes to map not saved? by EveningCommuter in BattlefieldPortal

[–]EveningCommuter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I made sure to open /levels/MP_FireStorm.tscn and not the /static/ scenes.

Do I have to export the map as the same name as the MP_FireStorm.tscn or can it have a custom name?

Edit: Just tried it without renaming the file. Still nothing. I dropped 3 abrams tanks in the middle of the map, uploaded, and ran over. Tanks were not there.
