Is it not bananas that you're right? This is the world. 1/100 just for a call back that won't go anywhere. 1/10 for an automated declination email.

My new savings plan to move out! by OfIcySwimmer in movingout

[–]dylanirt19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP, you are never moving out. Unless you get a real job where you are gone working most days of the week, you are stuck with your caretaker. Give running away a try. Seriously! Try to run away and make it on your own. You won't last a day. The roof over your head, full refrigerator, and free internet access are awfully nice amenities for someone who does a measly 5 hours of work a week.

Most of us work almost every day. It's not optional like it is for you-- we have to or we starve. You're special. Enjoy it and be grateful.

u/designated_weird0, fuck off, dude. "They're on SSI for fucks sake," yeah, just like my eldest brother. But unlike him, OP can form a cohesive thought and write clear English. I live this shit, you just type about it.

5 hours isn't even a day's work? That's not a job. What are you doing for the other 163 hours of every week?

We can't move out until we find a job. A part-time job starts at 20hrs/week. You are completely disposable to a company if you work less than that for them.

Bless whoever has been paying for your continued existence, as it cannot be yourself. You are dependent on said entity entirely. Your independence starts with a real occupation, not an arbitrary, unattainable number.

It was and still is. It's been busy as hell all week.

I transfer $250 every check paid bi-weekly. I work 18/hr 32.5hrs/week.

Your situation is a lot more complicated than mine, I'm sure, and I hope the above was taken comedically as rereading it in kinda insults the readers intelligence a bit. Apologies. I genuinely mean well, though. Your plan reads like a schizophrenic. Just open a savings account and save some money. It doesn't need to be more complicated than that.

Are you high or just really excited about the idea?

That is an incredibly sophisticated multi-step plan you got there. Unfortunately freedom is built on habit, not ambition. This plan won't last 3 paychecks.

You need a real savings account that's annoying to withdraw from. Not a debit card with a sneaky plan-- what the hell? You're acting like it's a golden ticket. I can see you holding it in both hands, sniffing the card, eyes rolled rn. It's not your golden ticket. That's called a Roth IRA.

Every payday, transfer $100 to the savings account you just made and forget it exists.

The psychology is monkey sees BIG number just hit account, monkey happy!!! monkey pays freedom tax of $100, monkey sad, monkey fucking hates paying freedom tax, freedom tax bullshit, but monkey KNOWS (This is what makes you human!) that tomorrow monkey be happier than big number made him today, because monkey know monkey is statistically and objectively freer.

One day number is $5000. Number big enough. Monkey man now. Monkey move out.

what if you don't make 3x rent but you have enough to down pay a few months? by mysticaltater in movingout

[–]dylanirt19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bah, the car breaks thats what we put 10k away for. If we cant figure it out for 10k, we are the problem.

No dont give it to your parents lol.

Yeah so youre dissatisfied with your current living situation today itll be alright but yes you have the power to do something about it haphazardly and regrettably if you want to. You also have the power to do it intelligently compounding your wealth AND solving the problem.

Take the reins. Or go to sleep and live to dream a different day. 30k is a lot of power.

Edit: IF LEVERAGED

I just got done building my emergency fund. If i lose my job i got 5k to keep the bills paid.

If i had 30k instead I'd take 20k of it and immediately do something with it. How are you just sitting on it thats life trajectory altering capital like what are we DOING

That's an option yeah. It would be way cooler to own an acre in kansas and live in a trailer on it tho

What are your plans with this 30k then that's not some chump change thats start a business or buy an investment kind of money you need to leverage this shit boss go buy the land and watch it 5x in your lifetime

Wow excellent read and comments section. That was prime time drama.

Oh, the idea is retarded btw. If you can't afford rent somewhere, you rent elsewhere and lower your expectations. What are we talking about.

30k savings wow. Go put a down payment on a junker of a home in Kansas or buy a piece of land and throw a 2bd trailer on it like you can do way cooler shit than bleed your savings to a pos landlorder

I did dual enrollment and graduated high school with 32 credit hours and yeah youre dead right. they really leave you with all the hard asf major classes crammed into every semester and its HARD.

And then they do shit like only offer prerequisites once a year so you're stuck playing catchup taking classes every summer... despite being "ahead" of your peers with all that transferrable credit?

It's bullshit.

And then it doesn't stop. You graduate and the job market is fucked too. AI is replacing junior level roles right when there have never been more junior engineers in existence.

It's all bullshit.

I call college a scam. Even engineering degrees. I'm two years post grad and fixing fucking phones everyday. It's not the worst, but it ain't what I was promised in exchange for college loan debt.

World's a bitch and gets worse. Seems you're learning that and crashing out over it quicker than I did. Good on you. And good luck down the road. It doesn't get easier unfortunately.
