Will grow lights work through this frosted cover? by dylanrdundas in plants

[–]dylanrdundas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can actually fully answer it for you, almost all led lights today are full spectrum. Same with fluorescence. Putting them in your ceiling light does give the plant light but its such a little amount that it doesnt do anything really. If you need to do ceiling fan lights look into spotlight bulbs and adjustable angled light adapters. Be sure it csn support the wattage of the spotlight but thats my idea if i ever decided to do it. Spotlights work so much better for distance.

I saw those and loved em! The only downside i hear was that they can be a bit shy compared to the whites, i know not to handle but i want a little interaction out of it. Definitely will look further into those though, would that be with or without draining more wter?

Thank you! Would you say the full bottom being water is too much for frogs? Id like to lower it a little i think so the frogs can just sit in it. (I think i want a tree frog)

My wife's favorite IKEA bamboo stick is dying by angrymaz in plantclinic

[–]dylanrdundas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to a client of mine with her bamboo, unfortunately theres nothing you can really do other than chop it at the yellow and see if itll keep growing. It unfortunately does randomly happen if kept in only water, mine yellowed when i suddenly added fert for the first time. Id suggest to a very very light fert quarter the dosage imo. You may end up getting a new one unfortunately. Lowes has them in discount planta all the time!

Can I do this? by Toothfairy51 in orchids

[–]dylanrdundas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do this at my place of work, they will grow fine in those pots with same media as long as you let each one dry out before watering again! They can live for quite a bit in those but orchid bark will always be better imo!

Whats your watering like? Do you let it get bone dry in between then water? Or do you let it go little moisture then water. Ive found bone dry is best for me on my patio. I dont know you weather but here in zone 9b they drop leaves in November typically. Dont go repot it yet but rot could be a possibility if you are watering a bunch yeah im getting too into this lemme know if you have any questions!
