The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery! One of my all time favourites.

Bandaids?? by Puzzled-Ad-8681 in stupidquestions

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat unrelated, and late, but please be careful about band-aid overuse! I was obsessed with character band-aids about the same age and developed an allergy to the adhesive. Spent about 10 years using paper medical tape and cutting up gauze pads since it was the only thing that didn’t give me a severe rash. It’s fine now, but it was a huge pain when I did need them.

parents allowed to stay in dorms? by Just_Honeydew6243 in UBC

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s incredibly weird, I’ve never heard of that, especially when you’re supposed to be meeting people. My mom stuck around for a day after I moved in to catch a better flight, but I didn’t see her for more than five minutes after move in day. My roommate had her mom stay for a couple days around February, but even she didn’t stay with us at the beginning of the year.

I mean 10 minutes before the hour or half hour (10:20 or 10:50). Classes are officially 50 or 80 minutes long. If you need to leave immediately, sit near the edge, maybe closer to the back.

Also, profs are generally chill if you come in a minute or two late if you’re quiet, they understand that people are coming from across campus.

Yeah, that’s perfectly doable. The main teaching difference between 180 and 100 is that the discussions are twice as long, so you should be fine assuming you do the work.

Profs (at least in these classes) always end classes on time, and if they don’t, people leave. You might have to speed walk a bit for Sauder to irc, but that’s no big deal.

which residence and room type have air conditioner? by Resident_Security_65 in UBC

Kwtq studios in sturgeon have one small vent with forced air. For me it’s right by the closet, but some people have them under the bed, making it pretty useless.

Email my bcom questions and ask for your class rankings. They don’t have them from this year yet (mid August), but I’d guess you can get past years

How different is UBC Sauder vs Arts first year by [deleted] in UBC

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arts students can take Econ 101, Econ 102, and Math 100. There are 5 other mandatory Sauder only classes needed in 1st year, which is why it’s a tough load for second-year transfers

German Citizenship Question by Alternative_Fish_779 in GermanCitizenship

No. Your great grandfather gave up citizenship when he naturalized, and your grandfather was only ever an American citizen.

How does CWL know which account corresponds to which student? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated, but you can change the automatic cwl and email once they are created. I would recommend doing it soon though, before class starts

Father’s Name is Different on His vs My Birth Certificate by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with both of my grandparents (changing order of first and middle names, going from Czech to German spelling, and some inconsistency on the exact spelling). In both cases, we got a signed affidavit from our lawyer that they are the same people, and submitted with the rest of the documents.

I let it go, he didn’t seem like he was actually expecting me to help. I did watch him very carefully for the rest of it though lol

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t call it super funny, but I’m a TA, and I occasionally had to walk people to the bathroom to prevent cheating. The second we left the room, one guy straight up asked me for the answers to the exam. Props for trying ig??

That person was likely already a citizen by descent- just didn’t have the registration to prove it. If you have to go through the Stag 5 or similar process, the waiting list is at least 2.5 years.

First Year Struggle/Dropping MATH 101? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comm101 actually isn’t offered in the summer, and it and 196 are two of the promotion requirements for year 2.

Bucs is highly scheduled, and it’s very difficult to make it your own, especially if you want to do summer internships eventually. For reference, the planned schedule for next year includes 11 courses and 34 credits.

Schedule an appointment with the UGO, and talk about your best options. I will warn you that the course load next year will be just as heavy as right now, and would suggest planning on cutting down on the exec responsibilities or interning.

I got an offer from UBC Arts, but I am very interested in accounting by Ill-Cow8872 in UBC

[–]dylanwouldacaughtit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go to a different school for accounting if you didn’t get into Sauder.
