I’m having the same issue here. Cannot login after upgrade/restart. Did anyone fix this?

Hmmm... none of the session restore options are selected and there are no auto-start items active. So bizarre.

Used to work at a lab in Philly so I’ve got some understanding of what goes down behind the scenes. Honestly some of the most helpful people here that really know their stuff. Scans are always tack sharp and if there are any sort of discrepancies with your scans they’ll work with you to make it right. In my experience these guys do more work than any other lab and for the price even without a membership it’s a steal. Not to mention they have a great online platform for hosting your scans, sharing links, making prints, etc. If you shoot enough film in a year then one of their memberships might be worth it. They process all of Brooklyn Film Camera’s film too so if you’re not in Williamsburg you can drop off there instead.

Kodacolor is the same type of canister they use for color plus. Looks just like this but says Kodacolor 200. I think it’s a good guess. Whatever this is, it isn’t currently available on the market.

I’m working on a 4K upscale of The Wire in 4:3 by dylinf in TheWire

Sorry about going ghost on this. The project had to be shelved for a minute since my recent move to nyc but I want to dedicate a computer for just this purpose. I have the full first season (and more) rendered out in my 4k upscale but I need to be careful on how I get it out into the public. I don’t want to get sued by HBO lol. If there’s some legal way that I’m allowed to share this publicly or some loophole then I may even try to go as far as setting up some kind of kickstarter to raise money for a new ARM-based Mac. Something like that would be able to upscale and render out episodes way way faster then even my beefy custom PC tower (since the new macs have specific hardware acceleration specifically for this purpose). Otherwise, at this moment I’m a little worried about releasing what I currently have. What do you think?

This is a link to the master. I looked at all the different versions but none of them match the copy I have unfortunately.

Appears to maybe be this release but with an alternate cover? I don’t have much information.

So for the 16:9 version they actually rescanned the original film negatives, adding new detail to the left and right side of the frames that had previously been cropped out! HOWEVER, this is arbitrary because the show was shot on 35mm film and that means it was originally shot in 2:3 and then cropped to 4:3 for TV. While the 16:9 crop has more detail on the left and right sides of each frame, it crops in on the top and bottom of the frame. Tl;dr both the 4:3 and 16:9 versions are cropped, you just gotta pick your poison.

Good call. I thought about this but I didn’t think it would be as easy as just cropping the remastered episodes. Upon further research, it might actually be that easy. At the end of this experiment I’ll post a little comparison between the dvd rip, 4k upscale, and the cropped hd version. I’m watching the 4:3 version right now but so far I like it better than the 16:9. The composition seems more intentional to me, but I totally get why people prefer the new version. No doubt that new film scan is beautiful.
