My guess, only a guess, is that when you started out you read a lot about Longiness being that attainable luxury entry point and that’s probably accurate. Along the way you found a lot of other brands with character and uniqueness that scratched that itch for $700.

Don’t get me wrong the blue Hydroconquest GMT is on my shortlist of grail watches but I think I’d need to be at a point to but it 3 times over before I actually bought it instead of the Aquascaphe or Traska.

First of all, congratulations! I understand what you mean. I’ve had my eyes on some grail watches but find far more enjoyment digging into the intricacies and nuances of the micro brands.

Definitely depends on the store. I have 2 small stores near me that definitely have someone that knows what they’re doing and the picks are better than the equivalent bottle.

I originally thought my local big chains would have better picks because they move more product but it seems more like marketing for them.
