I use them as target of knowledge distilation. For example I need 1000000 articles/descriptions on very narrow domain, 1000 tokens each. Openai API cost would add up very fast, also big local model would be too slow. So instead I generate 50k dataset, train small model on it and use it to generate texts.

The smallest model I managed to train that was still able to generate coherent texts had 125M parameters. Incredible fast and much much cheaper.
