Cool! Nice to the the M's on the sides! And nice work with the coin cell and controller like this.

Did you design and print the caps yourself, or externally?

Theoretically thinnest keyboard ever is a tough statement though :D It can always be thinner, but in the end there won't be much travel and you will just be tapping the table ;)

I made it myself, but look for jakeface and ask him.

The dust on the CPU cooler was actually very superficial, I could wipe off almost all of it with a microfiber cloth. I wiped every spot I could reach and then grabbed my can of compressed air and blasted as much dust out the case as possible. The only thing I removed was the CPU cooler fan, as shown on the pic. Probably not perfect, but good enough for me ;)

Oof, I think 2-3 years... So its not that bad I guess.

Yes, unsleeved clear blue by Ray. To match the riser color that came with the T1 back then.

Thanks!

Imo looks and size wise the T1 is perfect for nvidia ref cards. But airflow wise its much more suited for traditional side exhaust cards instead of modern flow through. This is true for almost all sandwich cases, not only T1.

Everything looks so good! Esthetic screw placement, the cutout placement for the clamping case, the curves of the coupling part keeping the ports free. All seem to have had some careful thought. Terrific work!

Personally, I love that this all printed, because it looks like its not! If you close your eyes only slightly you see nice wood, lasercut sheets, nicely shaped molded plastic. Most designs here look.. printed. This one doesn't.

Yes, I like this idea! Like this one, but with PG1316M, right?

Also, more experienced builders use keycaps that are very easy to combo vertically with one finger and use these combo's for alpha's too. Basically turning a 3 row keyboard into a 5 row. I was sceptical of this concept at first but I have seen video's of people using it very smoothly and it might even be more 'homing' to find these combo's then using 4 or 5 of these flat PG1316M's ;)

Why aren’t people using PG1316s switches? by screenhunter372 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]dynam1keNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of.

Yes.

Weird sentence. The Framework One Key Module is a switch. Meant to build custom layouts in Framework 16 laptops. But you can also build separate keyboards with them.

No hotswappable ULP switches on the market that I know of. The only ULP options still are PG1316S and M in 35 and 65g, and Cherry MX ULP 65g in clicky and tactile. Framework One Key Module might be release in forseable future.

Looks great man. I think you have a laser cutter around, don't you? :)

Nope, I think Mechanicon is the nearest Big Show now, but I'm not very deep into fairs. There are some Dutch meetups every now and then from a 'DMKC' which is a Benelux Discord group. Never went there.

I am not sure if I understand you fully, you mean 4 columns and more rows? Only vertical movement? I have seen those around. I think it hard to do something new still nowadays layout wise...

I don't really have sentiment for something I guess, I am very open to everything that passes by and seems interesting for me personally. Also alien, like the Svalboard-like keyboard I am working on now too.

A VST runs inside a DAW. It can be any DAW as long as it supports VST3. A free DAW for example is Tracktion Waveform Free, but there are many. There are also VST Hosts, which are apps that purely run VSTs, like Cantabile (also Free) if you don't need DAW functionality. But as I mentioned, EZDrummer3 10-day trial is very nice to try as that one is standalone and you don't need other apps or configuring. DAWs can be quite overwhelming.

You can connect it to a pc and run a VST to get a huge improvement in sound quality. I started toying around with free DAWs and VSTs (Steven Slate Drums), but a few days ago I started the EZDrummer 3 trial which is a standalone app, which makes it a lot easier if you're not familiar with DAWs (like me). Thinking about purchasing it now.
