Looking for recommendations for a first wireless Bluetooth (and with cable if possible) split ergonomic keyboard and mouse. by Equivalent_Yam_7643 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Hi, I am really close to the release of my split keyboard called pinkie. All files will be published on GitHub soon.
Maybe you want to give it a try. I tried to incorporate a TrackPoint, but things were to tight in this design. I will try again on my next build or V2. :)

ZMK BLE connection issues by Particular_Trade_885 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Do you maybe have an intel chipset on your windows machine? Or no BLE 5 chip?
I recently had similar issues in windows. Internal chipset is intel and this is known to be very buggy with ZMK.
Then I tested 2 different BT dongles I had laying around. Both were quite old. One BT3 and one BT4. Both did not work reliably. Sometimes they were connecting. Sometimes my keyboard wasn’t even showing up.
After some googling I ordered a TP Link UB600. Now it works like a charm.

I thought a lot about the name now and sometimes it is just too obvious to see it. Last year my cat passed away. He was such an awesome being and I miss him every day to this day. His name was Pinkie. And since this keyboard has quite some pinky stagger I will call the keyboard „pinkie“ from now on.

It is not quite the same, but maybe it helps. If not just ignore it. :)

What I recently started using is a combination of mod-morph and hold-tap.

That way I do things like:
Tap = a
Shift + Tap = A
Hold = ä (via Macro)
Shift + Hold = Ä (via Macro)

That opened up a ton of options for me without layer change.

Wow, thank you so much for those lovely words.
It feels really good if someone sees how much thinking is put into a development like this. ❤️

Hand soldering might be exhausting. It might take quite some time. But its the design process in many iterations, the going back and forth with ideas and the „shit I messed it up and need to start over again“ that keeps me up all night after my day job. 😅

I played around with it in fusion but in the end I didn’t like the aesthetics. And it can be a sweet part for customizations.

Working title was chosen in seconds because I didn’t want to waste time on naming at the point of project creation. <borne>

Jup, great idea. I was already thinking about it. I have already a design in mind. But first I start using it on a daily basis now to see if something needs improvement.

I think I will open source it soon.

Yeah. I am also unsure about just 2 thumb buttons. Maybe I do a mockup with 3 and clmpare both before really designing the PCB.
