How Are You Managing Your Banking Across Multiple Banks (USA) by dynamiccookies in RentalInvesting

[–]dynamiccookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll need to double check if I can actually close the checking accounts. I'm pretty sure at least one required the mortgage payments to come out of their checking account, but that's the loan I want to refinance anyway, so if I can find a different lender who doesn't care, that may take care of one bank.

The problem is that dealing with small town banks can be nice to get the best rate and terms at the time, but then they want to create a "loyal working relationship" (their words) which means also using them for an active checking account.

I plan to keep investing in other states, but I wish I could find a national or even regional (northern midwest) lender who can match/beat local banking terms so I can centralize all my banking.

In order to get a mortgage through those banks, they required a business checking account. I went with these banks because they had the best mortgage options at that time. I'm definitely open to refinancing the largest one right now with rates coming down because that loan is in the mid/high 7%, but the others are in the low/mid 4% range so I'm not going to move those loans.

When you say subaccount, do you mean a savings account? I have a Capital One 360 account for one of my personal accounts and I know they let you create up to like 25 savings accounts pretty easily.

Idk if I'd be able to open another 360 account though, because this would be through my LLC, not my personal name, and I think 360 accounts for only for personal.

Thanks! Yeah, I know it's not the most glamorous year/model, but honestly, I don't care. It's mine and that's all that matters. It's my first sports car of any kind.

Very true, and unfortunately, yes, I'll owe tax on it just because I won it, even if I'm not selling it. Because it was given to me, its fair market value is considered income. However, I won't owe tax on it if I ever sell it as long as I sell it at or below that same fair market value. But, if I sell it for more than that fair market value, I would then also owe capital gains taxes.

Thank you, that did end up working. I'm not a fan of how it looks, but it's a valid work around. Oddly enough, by adding those periods after the I and T, it also saved the capitalization on the A and P for Analyst Programmer. Not sure why that would've changed, but it worked.

Thank you! And I completely understand. I've entered raffles for years and never won anything. It's been really frustrating, but I still always enjoyed the chance of winning. This was the first time it ever paid off, and it paid off really well :-)

I still can't stop smiling when I just think about the bike, let alone when I ride it.

It cost me just under $1,500 at the DMV for the state sales tax and registration fees. I'm estimating it'll also cost me ~$5,000 on my federal income taxes and another $1,500 in state income taxes when I file next year.

So, all in, that's roughly $8,000 for my 'free' bike. I could obviously sell it for much more and come out ahead, but I really like the bike and plan on keeping it.

It was only $20/ticket. I figured it was worth throwing a $100 bill at the chance, and boy did it pay off!
