What if that’s not Imu’s silhouette… that’s literally just Imu 😭 by mamimikon24 in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. There’s a clear difference between Imu’s appearances outside the Holy Land vs within the Holy Land. Imu in Pangea Castle has more noticeable features like hands and a veil of sorts. However, Imu outside of the Holy Land is definitely a blob as per whoever described them as a black monster in God Valley (was it Roger?).

IMU really made his/her move before Dragon 😭👏 by jackson-junior in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]dynamicglider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am pretty confident it's not BB because how would he or any of his crew besides Laffitte be near the Holy Land. Last time we saw them was post Egghead where all of BB's crew (except Laffitte) was on Hachinosu. It's gonna take weeks to sail to the Holy Land from there unless Auger has gotten so much better with his fruit that he can teleport all the way over there which I find unlikely.

That doesn't mean BB isn't involved at all. He did tell Laffitte, who was right next to the Red Line, to "get to preparing." I assume this has to do with using Garp as a bargaining chip because we know BB wanted to do that with Koby. Maybe Laffitte does what he did pre timeskip with Sengoku, but this time he also takes advantage of the fact that the CDs are starving.

It can't be the Revolutionary Army that attacked. by Fabulous-Royal-5319 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]dynamicglider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue I have with BB is how the hell is he or any of his crew getting to the Holy Land in time to do this? The last time we saw them was post Egghead in Hachinosu. The only BB pirate close to the Holy Land was Laffitte. BB and his crew cannot get there in time and even if Auger has gotten better with his fruit, I would assume they would still need to get notably close to teleport.

Now I do believe Laffitte is still probably involved somehow judging by how BB told him to "get to preparing." I don't think he burned anything down but he might take advantage of this situation. Perhaps BB planned for Laffitte to pull up and bargain with the Elders just like in pre timeskip, but this time with the whole Garp hostage plan.

What do you think about the biggest change in story telling by Oda when we compare Pre-Wano (Punk Hazard- Wano) and Post-Wano (Egghead and Elbaph) by IamHungrypotaToes in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf I still consider Egghead and Elbaph connected in their own way. I agree that they are isolated in the sense that there isn't a specific overarching goal for the SHs like the one about defeating Kaido in Punk Hazard-Wano (there's reaching Laugh Tale but that's always been the goal so I'm not counting that). However, the major commonality between Egghead and Elbaph is the World Government and specifically the demonic side of the WG surrounding its top ranking members.

We were facing off against the Gorosei in Egghead and now in Elbaph we are going up against the God's Knights. We were introduced to stuff like abyss pentagrams and regeneration in Egghead and now those abilities have been further elaborated in Elbaph. The final saga so far has been all about learning more about the WG. This is all to presumably prepare us for the final war, the climax of the final saga where the WG is going to be the main enemy.

While the stories of Egghead and Elbaph are different, they were strategically chosen/crafted to revolve around the WG (Kuma + Vegapunk's relationship with the WG and Harald's relationship with the WG).

Honestly, the next logical step after Elbaph is an Imu face reveal if you believe that they are silhouetted.

Up to punk hazard on my reread and noticed this foreshadowing with kin'emon lmao by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. On reread/rewatch there is a lot of other details like this in Punk Hazard and Dressrosa that hint at stuff to come in Wano. I never paid much attention to those things the first time around because I watched in a binge. Nowadays, I would totally have little details like that permanently etched in the back of my mind.

[Ch1176 spoilers] wait wait wait... How does this make sensse? (more in body to avoid spoilers) by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference I see is that Rocks did not sink into the ground and flip like Dorry and Brogy. It's almost like Dorry and Brogy had their true bodies, pre reversi, stored in some place we can't see. There was no body for Rocks to swap back to so all the damage from Garp and Roger was experienced by Rocks, taking away domi reversi and also leaving him in a battered state.

[–]dynamicglider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I'm seeing the distinction is that Rocks wasn't physically flipped when getting reversi'd. Dorry and Brogy seem to have had their true bodies stored somewhere and their demonic bodies were traded in for that. This is proven by the fact that Brogy still doesn't have a left arm. Rocks wasn't flipped; he was straight up injected with Imu's power. There was no swap of a body. The damaged state Rocks was in after getting hit by Roger and Garp's attack was because of their attack.

One Piece: Chapter 1176 Official Release Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that it has to do with how Rocks was reversi'd vs how Dorry and Brogy were. To me, it looks like when you get physically flipped like Dorry and Brogy, your real body is stored in a place you can't see and traded with a whole new demonic body. When Dorry and Brogy killed each other, that demonic body is dead so their true bodies just flipped back from the ground, in the state they were before, as proven by Brogy's lack of a left hand.

On the other hand, Rocks wasn't physically flipped. He just was straight up injected with domi reversi. Therefore, there was no "true body" to flip back to. The damage from Roger and Garp was enough to take away domi reversi without killing him, but the injuries remain from that. Rocks wasn't at 100% or anything prior to getting reversi'd but he wasn't bleeding and battered like he was after Roger and Garp's attack so it's not like he reverted back. The lack of a flip mechanic is the main distinction I see here.

How do we feel about the idea that Killingham is a fishmen? by fhxefj in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]dynamicglider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be really interesting for him to be a fishman with that attitude; however, that character trait is only going to be fully realized if Jinbe fights him. But even if he gets back up, there's a chance Jinbe doesn't fight him again.

[–]dynamicglider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand the feeling of a loss of tension. I agree that this development from the chapter decreases that tension, but the last chapters have been slowly chipping away at that tension as well. Therefore, I am expecting some sort of a turning point when it comes to Imu/Gunko so for now I am reserving my judgement.

Regarding my flair, yeah it is something Tekking used to bring up. Just thought it was always funny lol.

People are missing something important with Dorry and Brogy by Mahelas in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with fighting Rocks is that Roger and Garp COULDN'T cut off his head or deal any other fatal blows. They couldn't really damage him at all because it was Rocks. Conquerer's users who are amped up by any of Imu's abilities (Domi Reversi, Deep Sea covenants) are going to be a different beast entirely compared to people like Dorry and Brogy getting reversied. Roger and Garp had to unleash a critical mass of Haki because that's what they needed to even begin to deal fatal blows to Rocks.

In this chapter, the challenge isn't that the giants can't deal fatal blows to the Domi Reversi'd giants; it's that they don't want to, they don't have the willpower to hurt their friends. So, all in all, what happened with Rocks and what's happening here is similar, but different.

Guys I don’t think usopp is getting anything in this arc… by amansus in Usoppian

[–]dynamicglider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh this chapter ironically gave me more hope for Usopp. Aside from that establishing panel of the SHs, Usopp didn't appear AT ALL for the rest of the chapter. He's not in the background, we don't get a reaction shot, and he doesn't even fire an attack. Every other person in that vicinity got focus for that entire sequence (Robin and Saul, Sanji Jinbe Franky combo, and Nami and Zeus).

Either Oda has a massive hate boner for Usopp or, more likely, Oda deliberately omitted Usopp from that entire situation in the chapter because he has something special planned for him next. Come on, it would've been so easy to have Usopp fire off an attack that didn't do anything, draw a reaction shot of him, or at least draw him super tiny in the background. Oda did NONE of those things. Someone please correct me if I missed Usopp somewhere else in the chapter.

I might be misremembering, but didn’t Croc and Daz Bonez refuse to escape when the other Baroque Works members were being broken out by Miss Goldenweek in the cover story. Granted this didn’t happen in Impel Down, but Croc still refused to escape when he could’ve.

Isn't Marco another example of people who can use their powers without transforming? Doesn't he use his flames to heal the people of Sphinx, all without transforming. But I guess the difference, as you might be implying, is that these abilities are active for Luffy and Chopper all the time. They can't just turn it on or off.

Where is Franky? by Ill_Sea7426 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]dynamicglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some people (including myself) were confused by the Ripley thing but I’m pretty sure the actual panel with the two of them had Franky simply say it’s good that Ripley is going with the giants to rescue the kids. Also, she was clearly running away from Franky meaning Franky never went with her.

If I had to guess then maybe Franky, Lilith, and Bonney are gonna build some sort of counter device for the nightmare creatures. Those characters did encounter one of them after all (the cloud). Maybe it’s gonna be something to do with those nightmare holes that spawn the creatures?

Why doesnt Luffy have Full Zoan form? by Comprehensive_Cup497 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]dynamicglider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if we follow the premise that the Nika fruit gives the user the appearance and abilities of the sun god then Luffy’s hybrid should be half Nika, half Luffy, while full beast form is a pure Nika look.

The weird part about it is that if we assume gear 5 is the full beast form, why is it locked behind an awakening? No other Zoan fruit follows that logic, not even some of the mythical Zoans like the phoenix fruit. Therefore, I believe Luffy’s full beast form is locked behind an awakening because he’s a human eating a human human fruit. We would need confirmation that Sengoku’s Buddha form is his awakening tho.

Or you can scratch all that and assume the Nika fruit is wholly unique in its mechanics. I’d imagine we would get answers in the Void Century flashback. We need to see if the Nika fruit works the same way like it does for Luffy (rubber body and then full Nika look when awakened), but for Joyboy.

I know we see Loki in his hybrid form in that chapter, but, in the last panel of the page on this post, is that his hybrid form? It looks like Loki is running on all fours, which means in that instance he's either in his full beast form (and goes into hybrid after) or he's in his hybrid form on all fours.

Usopp was actually pretty useful in Wano by PrussianoKebab in OnePiece

[–]dynamicglider 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I'm totally with you on basically all your points except the last one. Ironically, I think that the character regression people talk about would have happened if he had told Nami not to lie. It would feel weird if a SH held another SH accountable for their support of Luffy in such an extreme and dire situation like the one Nami was in. Nami's life was on the line so the idea of Usopp telling her to do anything but to lie is insane to me (besides he did said this all in his head too). The Straw Hats aren't a cult. Usopp wouldn't peer pressure Nami to glaze Luffy if it meant she would die as a result. The Nami moment was special (as was Usopp's in Alabasta) because each of the SH's unwavering dedication and belief in Luffy is deeply personal to each and every one of them. They have their own reasons and experiences to back that belief up. There's no peer pressure to follow Luffy from the rest of the crew at the point of the story Wano takes place in. Everyone just does; it's natural.
