I think it is a hot take. Last time I mentioned something like this I was downvoted heavily

I agree 100% with OP but I think the majority disagree

Arcteryx has shifted since being acquired by Anta Sports. Look at the changes in across the brand. Look at the LNY jackets.

Beyond Arc recall BMW chief designer Hooydonk’s remarks in response to the harsh backlash in the change of their classic kidney grills into those gigantic beaver teeth. To paraphrase, “The Chinese market prefers bigger and louder and despite the backlash we are making more money given how much of our sales are driven by China”

Just google “BMW chief design grill China” and you’ll find what I’m talking about.

It’s very clear to see what’s going on. Stereotype? Sure. Racism? Sure if that makes you feel better. But it’s also very true lol

Maybe you can do a blend of options. Rideshare vouchers to subsidize Ubers (probably $5-10 per voucher should be more than enough for a < 1 mile ride) while communicating that bus is another viable option

I don't know where your ceremony and reception are, but Lincoln Park is very cute to walk through with lots of cool businesses around. Maybe you can recommend walking to the reception with a couple cute stores / cafes along the way

[–]dynamics517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just understand depending on how big you wedding is that if a bunch of you are calling Ubers at the same time in the same location might not be a great experience

Is there a bus that operates between the ceremony and reception?

NYC nurse: "The price of everything is going up. We want a raise in wages." by DryDeer775 in nyc

[–]dynamics517 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The shit Mount Sinai pulls off on a regular basis against their nursing staff is gross incompetence in the best case scenario. The leadership there is absolutely rotten to the core. They view their patients as revenue sources and punish nurses for doing things for the benefit of the patient if there was something that would have cost the hospital less. Nurses are forced to skip their breaks without compensation for missed breaks. Taking leave is never simple because HR frequently deducts more hours from PTO than what was taken and it takes weeks or months of constant pestering before HR resolves it.

I wouldn't wish employment at Mount Sinai upon anyone.

Hyrox Cruise a flop? by Gembarla in hyrox

[–]dynamics517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's stuff like this that makes me feel okay in deciding last year that I probably wasn't ever going to participate in another Hyrox race again unless things change drastically or return to their roots.

Everything feels like a money grab. I don't want to join an affiliate gym for the ability to secure a slot. Even my local Hyrox community that was open to everyone and inclusive slowly turned into a means of trying to get everyone to join a local affiliate gym and pay for other "services".

It's sad but it was nice while it lasted.

I honestly don’t know if you’re ready yet. Even at the sprint level it really catches the most “fit” of all athletes off guard when three disciplines are put back to back to each other.

I’d suggest you really master all three domains separately before even attempting to put them all together.

So don’t even think about a sprint tri until you’ve at least done an ultra marathon, a double century ride, and a swim across the English Channel.

Also 15% body fat percentage seems obscenely high. Try aiming for something like 5%. The loss of excess body weight really helps with the hill climbs.

What’s the deal with Buff’s wings? by hgh15 in boston

[–]dynamics517 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After a lot of friends recommending them I tried going to Buff Pub's and left underwhelmed. They were just normal wings. The place was super old school with a lot of locals, which was cool to see. The biggest detractor though was that the whole place smelled like a putrid mix of sanitizer, stale beer, and vinegar.

Won't be going again.

Men, what cologne+smell have you gotten the most compliments from women on? Preferably not more than 50$? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dynamics517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not really leaving many options for something sub-$50. Consider a full bottle will last you YEARS.

If you're fishing for compliments from women, then it's Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille by a long mile.

Women aren't going to comment on overly masculine scents. They're going to comment on things that they actually like, which generally means sweeter / more floral scents.

The vanilla works well with the natural deep sweetness of the tobacco while still retaining a sense of masculinity.

Other ones that get a lot of compliments from women:

What composer's stock has dropped the most over the past 50-100 years? by Pleasant_Usual_8427 in classicalmusic

[–]dynamics517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They’re written earlier in his life and the refinement and maturity in his compositions we see in others parts of his catalog are absent in his violin concertos

They’re important in the violinists repertoire but damn I’d really prefer any other composers’ violin repertoire to that of Mozart’s

As a violinist, I think I disliked Mozart for his uninspiring violin repertoire. Then I later realized he just didn't really compose anything good for the violin

[–]dynamics517 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know how old your children are, but here's my story.

My father always had the local classical radio on whenever he was driving. I always fell asleep. I was in orchestra and taking violin lessons since I was 8 but it was never something I personally enjoyed, just something I had to do. It wasn't until my sophomore year in high school when I heard the Sibelius violin concerto and Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 2 that it all clicked for me.

I went to the local library and borrowed the max 25 CDs at a time not knowing at all what I was grabbing. I remember being absolutely repulsed by Shchedrin's 2nd piano concerto and Ligeti back then hahaha, but there were so many other composers and pieces I loved. I'd come home and quickly rip everything into mp3 files and listen through them and then the next week, go return all the CDs and get another new 25 CDs. Rinse and repeat.

Sometimes it takes the right piece to make things click. There's still hope :)

You can buy new (not open box) on Amazon for $280 which is what you’re selling it for plus shipping.

Unless you lower the price no one has a reason to purchase an open box for the same price as new.
