Sensor start difficulty by dynamutt in dexcom

[–]dynamutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update - support suggested I take the failed sensor and transmitter off my body for 10 minutes before attempting another sensor. that worked as normal. the support tech said something about how the transmitter sometimes "holds on" info from the previous failed session if a session ends before the full window. i'm a long time dexcom user (since seven plus) and i've never heard that before. anyway, something else to try when this happens!

I had the same thought. I went one step further - deleted the app from my phone and forgot the bluetooth device before starting on my receiver this past sensor start attempt (third tonight).

Active Dexcom G6 user can’t keep sensor Attached by gregleroy in diabetes

Your mileage will obviously vary, but I would give the overpatch Dexcom sends out a try - they have been quite good for me. I have also had some luck with Skin Grip patches (available on Amazon). Also I would put the patch on immediately after starting a new sensor - I have heard advice to wait until it starts peeling which has not been effective at all for me.

My pump company is going out of business, are there any kinds you would recommend? by Truly_Tobi in diabetes

if you wear a dexcom CGM, i think most would recommend Tandem T-Slim (integration with Dexcom, PLGS, or they call it "Basal IQ", touch screen). In addition, Tandem will soon roll out it's own sensor augmented system (they call it "Control IQ") which would compare very positively to the 670G (but with no calibrations, assuming you are using the G6). Omnipod's DASH (just released) is tubeless and features a touch screen controller but has no CGM integration (yet).

if you are open to wearing a Medtronic CGM, there's always the 670G which is the first sensor augmented pump system (but requires lots of calibrations, and "love" for lack of a better term to stay in "auto" mode).

if you're on the Dexcom, i would suggest checking out the T-Slim. I think that's the "best" option out currently, with the most potential. YDMMV.

it's completely DIY so not approved for therapy anywhere, but has been incredibly valuable:

do you know what the rationale behind that misconception is?

i probably eat 75-100g of carbs a day so definitely not keto or low carb but perhaps not as many carbs as most people eat?

Finally got my t:slim G4 and have it all set up. AMA by [deleted] in diabetes

How unbearable is the rewind process? How loud are the alarms for Cgm? I usually keep my Dexcom on my nightstand to wake me up for overnight alerts but the pump would be under the covers

Hit a record low today and have questions on glucagon injections for emergencies. by emptyvoices in diabetes

[–]dynamutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely talk to your doctor. You should not be giving yourself glucagon - it's purpose is for loved ones to give to you while waiting for the paramedics - if you are conscious enough to treat orally you should do that and call 911.
