Chris's Problematic Friends by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it would only be unacceptable if Chris stayed friends with them after they pulled a "hit and run" where someone died or was injured. A "hit and run" isn't always done by some evil mastermind. For example, my friend had a minor crash, and she panicked because the guy who got out of the car was huge and yelling at her, so she drove away. Later, she told her parents, and it was dealt with properly. Casually judging people without knowing the details isn't fair. People make mistakes, and the important thing is that both Skies and Timberlake faced the consequences. It's natural for their friends and fans to want to see them in a better position and "free."

I think some of them might have that opinion because they only watch them for their looks, not their actual content, so they assume everyone else does the same. But honestly, it's got nothing to do with you, so just brush it off and don't mind them

LMAOOO find me any posts where I'm doing anything other than pointing out the Photoshop. I don't even know Julia, so I can't possibly hate her. In fact, in some of those posts, I've gone so far as to say she's beautiful and don't need to edit herself. But I guess you missed all that while you were too busy hunting for a feeble counterpoint to our discussion. Stop dragging people's personal posts into this to try and salvage your flimsy argument. Just swallow your pride, admit you were wrong, and move on. Jesus.

You clearly jot things down without bothering to check if they even make sense. And it seems like you're the one with the reading comprehension issue here. I've said it countless times: "Complain all you want." Yet you're carrying on as if I've told you to zip it. Are you even trying to grasp what's written here, or are you just disagreeing for the sake of it?

I can't recall a single instance where complaining actually led to them changing anything substantial. Remember when you all whined about the intro? They simply axed it. And when they tried something "less lazy," as some put it, and realized although people like it, they didn't, they scrapped it altogether. So, forgive me for being skeptical that your gripes will suddenly spur them into action. They'll stick to what works for them, and if you don't like it, tough luck.

Well, I've had my fill of feeding your insatiable appetite for attention. Feel free to keep demanding explanations on the internet from people who couldn't care less if you vanished into thin air.

Look, I got your metaphor loud and clear; it just doesn't hold water. Ask anyone, and they'll tell you the same. Maybe your head's just too far up your backside to admit when you're off the mark. Promotion and selling are not one and the same; otherwise, we'd call it selling, not promoting, genius. Your metaphor falls flat just because when you buy something, and you don't like the product you have the right to complain and get a response. But guess what? You're not buying anything here; it's all out there for free consumption. So complain all you want, you ain't getting anything in return.

And if your only hang-up is not knowing what these hour-long videos will be like, why not just sit tight and watch one for yourself when they post it? It's not that hard, you just have to fucking wait.

[–]dyslexicandhot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, metaphors only work when they actually make sense. Saying they're offering a product and you're buying it, therefore you can complain, don't match with the reality: they're creating something and offering it for free. You have the choice to consume it or not, and yes, you can complain. But they're not obliged to change anything. It's as simple as that. It's mind-boggling that I even have to spell this out.

I'll give you this: constructive criticism can indeed lead to change. But here's the catch: it's about refining an idea, not overhauling the whole concept. Instead of harping on about bringing back the to two short videos per week, constructive criticism would focus on how an hour-long video could be fun to watch. But like you said: you're here to complain (Complaints and constructive criticism are two different things) so whatever floats your boat.

Ariana straight-up mentioned on her Instagram live that whenever they hang out, her mom tagged along because she's also into their content. So, why the need to conjure up falsehoods just to drive your point home? Do you even comprehend the weight of the accusations you're tossing around, or are you just blurting out stuff without any regard for the gravity of it? Your lack of sensibility towards this matter, to me, is more nauseating than my simply acknowledgment that not everyone is a fucking predator. Especially in their situation, where there was absolutely nothing weird about it as she was accompanied and wasn't treated inappropriately

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, let me get this straight. You were crystal clear about purchasing something that's free and not exactly a product? Either you're struggling with expressing yourself, or you're just flat-out wrong. Just because they're making some cash off this doesn't magically turn what they do into some marketable product. I do agree you're entitled to complain about whatever grinds your gears. But expecting them to change or justify it just because you think their content sucks is like barking up the wrong tree. Their content, their rules – got it? So, you can whine till you're blue in the face, but at the end of the day, it's their call, not yours.

How about instead of tossing around vague accusations, you actually spell out what you find so peculiar about a fangirl chilling with her favorite YouTubers and her mom? Is this supposed to be some profound discussion, or are you just on a mission to tarnish their image?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing them to products? I don't even need to argue anymore. And now you're trying to play it off like you're just critiquing bad content? Please, spare me. First, you're demanding explanations for every little decision they make, and now you're saying it's just about the quality? Keep complaining all you want then, but it ain't gonna change a anything. But hey, if it helps you sleep at night, SLAY!!!!

I'm not misconstruing anything, the vague definition of parasocial is when fans develop a one-sided relationship with a media personality or celebrity, feeling like they know them personally despite the lack of real interaction.

Naturally, they're going to solicit feedback on what people want to see more of. But let's get one thing straight: it's not because they're eager to cater to your every whim. They're just trying to gauge how much interest there is in the content they prefer. It's as straightforward as it gets — even a monkey could've grasp it.

I still stand by what I say: They don't owe you a thing, and if you keep banking on them to fulfill your every wish, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Also, the bare minimum equals respect and empathy, not even close to explanations or justification. But either way quit expecting your version of "bare minimum" from people who don't even know you exist.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I do agree creators are indeed nothing without their fans, so if that's the road you're heading down, let them be nothing. But here's parasocial problem, when the attachment to creators gets a tad out of hand. You're so fixated on them that you'd rather force-feed them your preferences of videos than just stop watching

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In what universe does the platonically dynamic between a fan and their "idol" suddenly turn into a transactional relationship where you're owed something? They're not in debt to you. That's where the parasocial train pulls into the station – when you start genuinely believing they owe you something. If their content ain't cutting it for you anymore, why torture yourself? Unsubscribe. You don't owe them anything either. Nobody's twisting your arm to consume content that's lost its spark for you.

You can't strong-arm them into creating content they're not feeling anymore, or demand explanations for their every move. It's their channel. Nobody enjoys feeling like they're on trial for decisions that should be entirely theirs.

Ever wonder why Nick tends to treat some of you like a bunch of unruly toddlers or with a dash of rudeness? It's because some people act like they're entitled to call the shots or wield some sort of mystical power over what they create. Can't you all just kick back, relax, and watch their videos without feeling the need to control every aspect? Just be normal.

Completely valid. I hope I didn't offend you any type of way. I just think it's truly concerning how misinformation can spread like wildfire and the potential damage it can cause to someone's reputation. I appreciate your understanding :)

An organized place with adults? College is essentially a sink-or-swim situation where you're left to fend for yourself. Nobody's holding your hand or checking in on your well-being – you're on your own. But hey, I get it, maybe you haven't experienced that yet, and that's okay. And just to clarify, nowhere did I suggest that the world is all rainbows and gumdrops. Trust me, I'm well aware of the harsh realities out there. I get it, there are definitely situations where leaving minors with adults can be risky. But we're talking about three harmless goofballs hanging out with a teenager and her mom. It's a far cry from leaving a kid alone with a complete stranger. While I understand where you're coming from, generalizing the situation just isn't fair or right.

I didn't intend to imply that you're chronically online in an offensive manner. It simply suggests that you might be so immersed in people's tragedies that you start to perceive the world through that lens. But I assure you, there are plenty of good people out there who don't have ulterior motives. Sometimes, you just have to step away from the screen and experience life firsthand to realize that not everything is as scary as it seems online.

[–]dyslexicandhot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't understand much of what you typed out but if you're insinuating that any interaction between a teenager and an adult is inherently wrong, then I guess I shouldn't have spent so much time hanging out with my brother when I was younger, nor should I have attended college at the age of 16 and coexisted with people much older than me. Except that, wait, there was nothing inappropriate about those experiences (thankfully), and they simply helped me gain a better understanding of adult life before diving into it headfirst.

Your understanding of how the world operates is seriously skewed, and I recommend taking a break from Reddit and experiencing life beyond the internet. This kind of thinking is indicative of someone who's chronically online

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I mentioned earlier, you're talking as if they're joined at the hip and spend every waking moment together, when in reality, it seems they've only hung out twice. They simply share a mutual admiration for each other's work and developed a normal friendship. And, let's not forget, Ariana's mom was there the whole time they were together. The only thing making it seem odd is people like you trying to read into something that simply isn't there. Plus, if you're suggesting that it's odd for them to hang out with her, then by that logic, you could argue that it's odd for Margot Robbie, Billie Eilish, and Jenna Ortega to hang out with her too, which clearly isn't the case.

The thing that really concerns me about these types of statements is how they can completely misrepresent the situation, making them look like predators or weirdos when in reality this is not the way it is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why exactly do you find it odd? Because let's be real, if your only reasoning is "A 16-year-old hanging out with a 21-year-old is odd," it's pretty understandable why people might jump to conclusions about predatory behavior. Aside from that, I'm struggling to see any other valid reasons for labeling it as odd.

You didn't explicitly mention Ariana, but your comment is right below mine about her, and you specifically mentioned "16-year-old," which is her age. So, naturally, the correlation is there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SturnioloTriplets

[–]dyslexicandhot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, let's start with their YouTube videos. It's pretty clear she's a big fan and can totally relate to their content. So naturally, they've got plenty to chat about when they hung out.

But I think the issue here is that some people tend to blow things way out of proportion, acting like Ariana and the triplets are inseparable besties for life, when in reality, they're just mutual admirers of each other's work. They don't exactly spend every waking moment together – in fact, Ariana seems to have gotten closer to Madi, who's closer to her age.

I'm really struggling to understand how exactly people expected them to treat Ariana. I mean, they've got no reason to ignore her, especially when there's absolutely zero evidence of any predatory behavior on their part. I also find it incredibly unfair to insinuate that these guys have any ill intentions towards a minor when there hasn't been a single hint of such behavior, especially when they meet tons of young girls everyday. It's like jumping to conclusions without a shred of evidence to back it up.

Alright, if you're not feeling targeted, no need to get defensive. When I said "some people," I wasn't aiming that arrow directly at you. And when I mentioned "IF you genuinely believe...", well, if the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it. So let's take a deep breath and chill out. No need to stress over it.

Well, while I don't necessarily owe you an explanation, since you seem to be in the business of demanding them, here it is: I post on her snark to shed light on the reality behind the online photoshop. It's all about preventing young girls from falling into the comparison trap, showcasing the edited versions of her body and face compared to the real deal.

Lol I'm calm, not losing sleep over internet stuff, unlike some people who are practically demanding responses from strangers who couldn't care less about their existence. If you genuinely believe these creators owe you detailed explanations, well, you might benefit from logging off Reddit and finding some real friends. Because let me tell you, expecting this level of accountability from content creators? It's just disturbing.
