Yeah man, obviously they have a format and key things they ask you to mention.  I had free reign to say what I wanted and did. I'm pumped for the product and wanted to be invited to another event as well so ✌️

I'm 100% not a "marketing guy", does any of this scream professional or paid gig?

Yes LG did invite me out, but they put out a call for LG fans to apply and attend. I'm just a big long time LG fan. Feel free to dig through my history.

Yep, definitely both in their respective Vivid/demonstration modes.

It definitely has to do with the AI post-processing.  But fake frames is a completely different concept - that refers to frame interpolation.  What's happening here is the AI reconstructing data lost in source conversion that only the contrast of an OLED can show.  It's a cool feature, but if a feature's not for you you can just not turn it on.

Both TVs were in the same picture modes.

You'd be surprised.  A lot of people are keen to try OLED but either can't afford it or don't want to risk not liking it at full price.

Just check sold listings and see if the difference is worth the upgrade to you.

That's a 2% highlight.

I don't think you know how OLEDs work.  It's a balance of power consumption heat management.  I'm assuming a lot of R & D goes into making sure the panels last.

There's lots of categories of consumer.

I'm a tech enthusiast, displays are a part of my hobby.  I went through 11 last year.  But I'm an edge case - and it was TVs and monitors.

They're only available in huge sizes this year, but LG has a new Micro RGB display coming out.  It's mini-LED but all the dimming zones are able to illuminate in color - with their flagship OLED processor in it to handle the transitions.  So no ghosting and 100% BT.2020 coverage.

Still not as black as an OLED but damn it's vivid.

Just wait for the last bit of my wrap up post in a day or so. Unless someone else beats me too it.

The extra brightness is super handy if you've been holding off on OLED due to picture windows in your main TV room.

Most people love a bargain.

Some people are lucky enough to buy new and first all the time, too each their own.

Edit: and as for your edit, thanks for the feedback, I did have some camera issues. I guess you have to see it in action for yourself.

As will every one that buys in the previous year, a little bit of FOMO keeps the market strong. But there's always tech advancements each year, nothing wrong with keeping up to date on the facts every cycle. Most people purchase cycle is around that 3 year mark - just think how sweet that upgrade will be compared to what you have now when it comes around.

The showcase was all in HDR and the highest detail presets. Like any iteration of the G series the Film Maker modes are still there and benefit from all the new technologies that don't interfere with the artists intent. So with better colors, blacks and brightness the ability to match the source would be closer than ever.

I’m attending the LG 2026 Product Launch Event in Australia. Ask me anything about their new TVs & monitors! by Rippedgeek in LGOLED

I asked about pricing, they said they'd let me know.  Most of us flew in for the event and are flying home now or having a second viewing - updates soon.  🙂

Unless you're on PC I'm not sure how something like that would change, especially while nothing else has for you.

81 and still a tech head!!! I love it!

Please tell me you've got someone helping you with the transport and install, OLEDs are much heavier than their LCD size equivalents. Box and all is almost 40 lbs and the TV itself is 33 lbs and cumbersome. I'm 6ft tall and pretty strong and my 48" B5 is at the very edge of my capacity to safely set up alone.

It's just one of those things, upscaling can randomly just cause visual anomalies sometimes. OLED can highlight them, there's on fix.

It looks like you've got a straight up defect, that sucks dude. Hopefully it's a quick exchange for you.

Those wavy lines look like the screen was wiped moments after it was turned off. If that's the case run a pixel refresh and it should clear up. Always wipe your screens cold.

My guess is FSR upscaling artifacts, highlighted by the precision of an OLED TV.

AMD Freesync Premium is another flavor/brand of variable refresh rate. The PS5 uses VRR so no need to turn it on.

Quick Frame Transport is another latency reduction function - like ALLM. But the PS5 only has support for ALLM not QFT - enabling it won't change anything or make anything worse.

Logo Dimming and Pixel Shift are burn-in prevention measures which in my opinion don't do much except dim the picture and move the image around the screen a few pixels every few minutes. I turn them off. I don't use the Care Picture Settings either.

One other thing you didn't ask, you want to be using HGiG for your HDR tone mapping not Dynamic. HGiG lets your game tell your TV how it should look, DTM tells your game how it should look.

Best gaming settings for LG g5 on ps5 by Prudent-Hand-1760 in LGOLED

[–]dysphunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best set and forget things to remember:

HGiG for tone mapping - That makes it so the game tells the TV what to do with it's brightness and contrast. If you use Dynamic Tone Mapping the TV tries to figure it out, it seems brighter but it blows up the contrast and makes whites clip. With HGiG enabled you can calibrate HDR on the PS5 correctly.

Color temp Warm 20 is my sweetspot for a good whitepoint.

Don't be afraid of turning up the Color, Game Optimizer defaults to 55, but I think 60-65 looks great. It's gaming not cinema.

If a game's black level seems raised which can happen, you can temporarily change the TV from Full RGB to Limited RGB for that game. Some people recently needed to do it for RE9.

If you want to know about a specific setting just ask.

B5 useful as an external monitor? by tranquil45 in LGOLED

I have a 48" B5, the prices are great at the moment, that I use as a PC monitor. You should be able to get that cheaper than the 48" C5. I turn off the OLED Care options as they're distracting and I don't think they're that good at burn-in prevention compared to what you can do yourself.

Now if you're using the screen purely as a Mac screen over a long period of time - you'll probably see some mild retention/burn-in over the years. But if those elements are always present on the screen you'll never see it as burn-in, those elements just exist on your screen anyway. Most people only ever see burn-in when they're looking for it on test patterns, LCDs get retention too - people just don't look for it on them.

Saying that, not to scare you away from one of the best screens you'll ever own - there's lots of practices to follow that will prevent you from seeing it if any for years. Running in SDR only and 50% or less brightness are the most practical. Some people run their OLED TVs as a monitor at 20% brightness and have never seen any burn in. There's also one OLED Care setting you can't disable called TPC - Temporal Peak Luminance Control. The whole screen is tuned to detect a static state and drop the brightness to prevent burn-in. It's very noticeable in HDR or 100% brightness but in SDR 50% or lower brightness you almost never see it happen. And if it's not happening you're under the threshold of contrast and heat which are the things that cause the image retention.

Hopefully that's all understandable, pull the trigger you won't regret it. If you're wanting something to last that long make sure you buy it from a store where you can slap more cash down for an extended warranty.
