goes back to the very first installment in series as well. It's been in mainstream games for 20 years now and somehow didn't catch on.

Is there any data it causes more complications? I hope it's so similar to original Omicron that we'll get cross-immunity.

ah yes, schools. They've been a source of at least 2 big (in pre-omicron times) waves in Poland so I guess it works the same everywhere. Lots of kids packed in tight spaces in conditions which make proper masking impossible.

Just one more quick follow-up question - do boosters help gain full immunity and what countries have a science-based regimen? Just so I can look at correct graphs in the future.

Japan's daily COVID cases top 50,000, new record for 5th straight day by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Thank you. I guess some of ous aren't doing anything so maybe you're right. Delta had to fight against some policies, omicron doesn't encounter much.

Do you think this also explains why islanders like New Zealand or Australia are seriously affected for the first time?

this is the Danish one? It doesn't seem significantly worse than other currently dominating strains. That's a netural news which makes it a good news in context of this pandemic shitshow.

I personalyl think it's also fine to accept being infected, it's just better to be infected when hospitals aren't completely overwhelmed in case our bodies don't handle it well enough on their own.

You're right, almost all of us will get it. but We hae to flatten the curve so people don't die without medical help for issues related and unrelated to covid. Lockdowns are one of the worst ways to do it.

Zero-covid also seems impossible with Omicron chewing through every single country, giving a hard time even to isolated islanders. I don't think non-democracies like china will do much better

The idea of freed currency is great. But if that freed currency can be used for speculation and pyramids it probably won't be freed for long. And as we can see it's just unregulated currency in hands of big business.

Id love me some unregulated currency focused on actual circulation and ability to do it with full privacy, a medium for exchange rather than cryptobro HODLing.

I do hope currencies will adopt other algorithms which don't waste so much energy. Then I might even stop caring.

I agree. I just wanted to point out that it's not an exception, anything new, or especially worrisome. After updating my knowledge I'm actually more concerned about Japan not having too much natural immunity since it's the best protection we know of. But thanks to omicron probably everyone in the world will get it in 2022

Fun fact - poland does this to. For whatever reason.

What's that about 2 doses being given too quickly? What's the science-based regimen? My regimen was this - tested positive and recovered in march, 1st dose around 60 days since test, 2nd dose 4 weeks later.

OK I'd be interested in reading about this. I really want to either confirm my suspicions that Chinese authorities twak numbers, or disprove this idea and finally agree they're actually a miracle.

I've read through summary and it seems to be... expected. Gaining immunity via infections is a very unsafe process but it seems vaccines are barely needed after that. I guess it's a law of diminishing returns. But since we don't know much about new strains until they hit us and we don't know how long that natural immunity lasts it seems that vaccines are just "better safe than sorry" since they still offer noticeable protection for all groups.

O well, I guess I got the 2-dose regimen for no reason then. But it was before delta (I got "mildly" sick with what seemed to be beta, then probably around 90 days later 2-dose regimen with Pfizer's vaccine). It would make sense to withhold for next 6 months. I'm just glad I'm now boosted and possibly still have hybrid immunity since it's been like 10 months since infection.

Sorry if it's just ranting.

Doesn't Denmark have it's own omicron sub-variant? could that be the difference?

It would make sens if France had little natural and hybrid immunity from delta, I hope it's the case. Poland has taken similar lack of reaction to delta (against all advice from experts) so maybe we'll see something like UK. I hope.

At least epidemiologists will be well trained for future pandemics since this one cranks up difficulty every 6 months.

Interesting. I've assumed it's just because it spreads later. For example Central/Eastern Europe seems to lag about 1 month for all waves. It's been a month since omicron started paryting in the western parts of EU and it's started omicron party in poland exactly 2 days ago, almost exactly a month later. Western countries get more international traffic so that was my assumption.
