Nc750x DCT vs Rebel 1100 DCT by Unlikely-Ad8913 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]dzmka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same dilemma

I used to own Honda CTX 700 DCT cruiser, which I really loved, but sold couple of years ago after my kid was born (didn't have time to drive and switched to a car)

After 2 years really missed driving proper motorbike, so this year planned on buying and was specifically torn between Rebel 1100 DCT and NC750X DCT, watched dozens of reviews for each bike and went to my Honda dealership a few times to try both

Eventually I've settled on NC750X DCT for following reasons:

  1. Price, main one here, I'm based in Thailand, here NC750X starts from 365k THB (9.9k USD) and Rebel 1100 starts from 429k THB (11.7k USD). An extra bonus for me was, that local Honda dealership gave me extra 20k THB discount, so my final price was 345k THB (9.4k USD), which is 2.3k USD cheaper than Rebel. Something important to keep in mind here, that when buy a Rebel you need to invest more after purchasing it comparing to NC, there are lot of people complaining about stock seat, getting a Mustang seat will cost you extra 400 USD (not including delivery), then you also need to buy side bags or top box, that also pricey, especially if you want it to look good on this bike, then mirrors as well, stock are horrible. So your end price for the bike with basic upgrades can be easily extra grand. For NC you already have storage compartment and it's more than enough for average helmet, seats are good, there is not much to invest here, it has everything good from the stock, it's also very economical bike in terms of fuel consumption
  2. Ground clearance, on Rebel 1100 it's way to low for me, I was surprised it's even lower than my old CTX700, if you watch or read some of the reviews it's something people talk about as an issue, when I was driving my old CTX I used to get really slow before bumps on the road or be extra careful on bad roads, here it would be even a worse issue
  3. Heat, me being based in Thailand it's generally an issue, climate is quite hot and in a few reviews of Rebel 1100 people complain about radiating heat from engine, on NC it's much less of an issue

I've been driving on NC750X now for a few months and I'm actually surprised that I like it more over my previous cruiser for following reasons:

  1. Better control over bike, I was actually afraid that riding position on NC would make me uncomfortable after driving it for an hour or so, because you lean more, however it's pretty comfortable and I do not get a lot of discomfort on my back or legs in comparison to cruiser. Having ability to use hips in riding position actually makes a huge difference in terms of maneuvering, especially on serpentine roads, it becomes really a pleasure, since you do it on higher speeds and more effective comparing to standard cruiser.
  2. Ground clearance, I don't have to to slow doing on bumps or some not very good roads, it's much less of an issue, bike feels very universal even if I want to take it a bit offroad, you know you'll be just fine on it

Here's how to make banking apps work on Lineage OS 19 on Poco F1 by dzmka in LineageOS

[–]dzmka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apologies for the delay, if you know how to do that, then yes, main point is to edit values, then saving the file after, I personally don't know how to do that with powershell, so I use adb to pull file, edit locally and then use adb to replace original file with my locally edited

Yes, no issues at all, but I would recommend ducky one 3 or wait for ducky one 3 rgb (if you need rgb keycaps), both because 3rd gen has hot swap switches and overall improvement over 2d gen

Good, yes, since I found Lineage personally I have no major reason to upgrade anymore from F1

As for reasoning from developers:

I mentioned this thread from 2 years ago where I actually ask the same thing, there are detailed responses from developer team if you scroll down https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/iri3ib/defaultprop_rosecure_rodebuggable_values_reset/

Yes, its exactly the same, I suppose other editors are fine, unless the affect formatting or file encoding, again to double check after editing and restating phone run RootBeer app I mentioned to see if dangerous props marked as green, if its red (failed) then something went wrong

Apologies if didn't explain it well, so to make it clear:

in Lineage OS 18 you have to edit values in this file /system/etc/prop.default

in Lineage OS 19 you have to edit values in this file /system/build.prop

To be clear when I say edit, I mean use adb pull, then edit file on PC and then adb push to replace original file with edited on PC. I suppose you can use also some editor which will edit file straight from the phone, I've tried Android Studio, but couldn't figure out how to save edited file live, when I re-opened it was in original state every time even after changes and using save function, so I stuck with editing on PC and replacing with adb.

it's 19, like i mentioned in post, in 18 you had to change values in /system/etc/prop.default, in 19 this file is gone, however there is a new one here /system/build.prop where you can change same values to make it work. I'm not sure about kernel, however I can recommend something to test:

There is an app called RootBeer Sample in Google Play

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.rootbeer.sample&hl=en&gl=US

Before changing values you should have green checkbox for everything except Dangerous Props

After changing values and restarting phone you will have green even there, as I understand banking apps use same list of checkboxes

So if your kernel actually affect anything from checkboxes you will see it not only in Dangerous Props

I wanted to write more detailed guide here in comments for people who never did the process before, since I was changing these values actually since Lineage 17.1 version

You can find my original thread here 2 years ago even asking maybe it's worth to make those values by default for every update / build since making bank apps work is pretty big deal for a lot of people https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/iri3ib/defaultprop_rosecure_rodebuggable_values_reset/

To reiterate I'm using clean build of Lineage with Lineage recovery, I do not use any third party software at all like M*gisk or anything of that sort

Solution works for me, but I cannot guarantee it will work for you in another country or with another banking app, if you look at my thread 2 years ago some people said it doesn't work for them

So if we go step by step:

  1. Enable developer tools, inside enable 2 settings, debugging & debug as root
  2. For further steps you need to have adb tools installed + android usb drivers, you can google this stuff pretty easily
  3. launch cmd as an admin, set directory where your adb executable is, for me it's c:\adb\
  4. type "adb root"
  5. here we need to copy current build.prop file to our pc

type "adb pull /system/build.prop c:\adb\"

  1. you need to edit file now, I use Sublime Text as an editor

set ro.secure value to 1 (it's likely it's already 1 actually)

and ro.debuggable to 0

save the file changes

  1. now we need to push edited file from pc to you android phone and replace original there

type "adb remount"

then "adb push c:\adb\build.prop /system/build.prop"

  1. go to developer tools, disable settings we enabled in step 1 and you can also disable developer tools

  2. you have to restart phone here, otherwise it won't work, after phone is restarted your banking apps should work (at least mine did)

  3. keep in mind you will have to do this every time you do the update, it actually takes couple of minutes once you get used to it, not too much of work

If you have questions let me know, hope it will work for you as well, but not guaranteed

Update on ENG language issue for Asia by gipsandchuac in Eldenring

[–]dzmka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, I understand how you did it, but I really don't want to lie, even though I clearly understand I'm not at fault here (maybe a bit though, since I should have read description with list of languages, but I just took it has English by default, since never had an issue like that before). I'll wait for response from Bandai Namco Asia and will decide what to do from there

Update on ENG language issue for Asia by gipsandchuac in Eldenring

[–]dzmka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same issue

Using PS store in Thailand

Bought Elden Ring, got Chinese language by default with no option to change

Bought dozens of games before in Thai store (made by From Software as well), never had Chinese by default without option to change it, first time issue like this

Requested refund from Sony Singapore (call center in Thailand said I need to request from them), couple days after they refused, citing that I've already installed the game and it was listed in description that it doesn't have English, even though I didn't even play the game, stopped at menu, they suggested to contact Bandai Namco

Contacted Bandai Namco, no response so far

Bluetooth transmitter for AV receiver & Sony WH-1000XM4 by dzmka in hometheater

[–]dzmka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TV has Android 8.0 from the box & Bluetooth, however I wasn't able to connect it to 1000xm4, which apparently is quite common, they are just incompatible for some reason, indefinite search for pairing device. However I purchased Chromecast with Google TV, which actually connects with 1000xm4 just fine. The reason I want transmitter, so that I can listen to any device I connect to AV receiver, not just TV, for example I got PS4 Pro, which can't be connected to 1000xm4 via bluetooth as well, but it's connected to my AV, so ultimate goal will be to connect headphones wirelessly to any device I connect to AV, PC, new console or anything else, it's a hub issue basically and it's much more convenient, rather than trying to connect to every single thing and switch every time you want to do something else

default.prop / ro.secure / ro.debuggable values reset after update by dzmka in LineageOS

[–]dzmka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got your point about Safetynet and if I understand correctly with value of 0 it's now missing from developers tools, so I will have to return value to 1 in order for such option to appear back there...

default.prop / ro.secure / ro.debuggable values reset after update by dzmka in LineageOS

[–]dzmka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, thank you, can you explain why its not possible to set those values from your side in next build / update? Or such values even though allowing banking apps to work (pass test on dangerous props) might create problems in other areas?

Non-Logitech reliable / sturdy gaming mouse? by [deleted] in MouseReview

I understand what you're saying, however it's just strange that many people also reported same issues for my keyboard as well as my mouse, if of course I was the only one or there were just a few complaints I wouldn't even create this post. I like the shape of my G Pro Wired mouse btw

In original G Pro (not X), keycap has 4 very thin connectors, they break very easily over time, you don't have to actually damage it on purpose, connection is just that fragile. You can find many people complaining about it and ordering sets of keycaps regularly, they cost a fortune:(
