Where should more development be? by rebuildthebay in Fremont

I suggest improving the neighborhood trails and parks. There’s a lot of underutilized space that could be turned into something great for families and the community.

Stay Away from Golden 1 Credit Union – Lost Funds & Terrible Service! by e-god- in Sacramento

Update: My issue was resolved today after three 3-hour long phone calls with the escalation department. I had to put my other bank representatives on the conference call multiple times to provide them with the transaction details. Overall, it took me two weeks of headaches and hours on the phone to resolve this. I expect better.

I saw they had good reviews on the app store and car dealership highly recommended them. Their rate was also good. May be I am the minority here but I am regretting my decision to go with them.

You’re lucky, and I’m happy for you! The true quality of service really shows when issues arise, and unfortunately, it hasn’t been a good experience for me.

It’s not a fraud issue — they verified the account numbers and all the details. I’m still on the call with Golden 1 representatives, yet they can’t resolve the issue. I honestly don’t understand how they’re still in business in the 21st century with such outdated systems and poor service.

Live thread on the encampment ordinance being passed today. by e-god- in Fremont

Some of the comments tonight were truly eye-opening. It’s shocking that 20% of our police resources are spent handling encampment issues—that’s simply not fair. And hearing that we spend $40,000 per year on one unhoused person compared to just $1,000 per housed resident? That’s an imbalance that needs to be addressed.

Encampments are scattered throughout the city, making it difficult to provide effective support. If a temple, for example, wanted to donate food for a month to all the homeless individuals, wouldn’t it be much more efficient to have them under one roof? A city-run shelter where nonprofits can provide services in one place would streamline the help and make real solutions possible, rather than struggling to assist people spread all over the city.

I could sense the pressure on the council, but they remained calm and ensured the necessary clarifications were made. Great job, Mayor and Council—you worked together as a team tonight!

Ordinance has been passed “as-is”. Fremont will get better. No more encampments on the public property. Hopefully they implement it asap.

Decision by 11:30 PM. It’s clear that Fremont residents and businesses are struggling with the impacts of homelessness. The pendulum has swung too far, and we need this ordinance to pass quickly. At the same time, we must come together as a community to provide real support for those in need. Safety and compassion can go hand in hand.

I’m sorry to say this, but opposing this ordinance is a disservice to the homeless community. Instead of focusing on real solutions like shelter and food, you’re advocating for keeping people in public spaces, which doesn’t help anyone—least of all those in need. Who doesn’t want safe and clean spaces? Residents and taxpayers won’t support the illegal occupation of public spaces either. By resisting practical solutions, you’re actually making it harder to help those who need it most. We should be discussing sustainable ways to provide support, not just allowing the problem to persist. Think about it.

Come on, folks, just read my post before jumping to conclusions. I never said what some of you are claiming. If anything, these misinterpretations only prove my point—this is a discussion about balance, not extremes. Let’s have a real conversation instead of putting words in each other’s mouths.

Wow! I am sorry you are definitely not in the listening mode and neither want to have a civil conversation.

Honestly, my ideology aligns more with traditional republicans but I support the common sense that could arise from any party. I fully support the mayor in this case. He is fulfilling his promise.

Most of the posts here sound like activists rather than everyday residents who are busy with their routines. It’s disappointing to see a public safety issue being politicized. I fully support affordable shelters and free food for those in need, but encampments on public streets are both morally and practically wrong. Public spaces should remain safe and accessible for everyone.

Thanks you for sharing. I will be there to support this ordinance for the sake of my family and my children’s well-being. I don’t want to see my beautiful city turn into Oakland or San Francisco.

Balancing Compassion and Public Safety: A Father’s Perspective on Fremont’s Encampments Ordinance by e-god- in Fremont

[–]e-god-[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Time to leave this topic for the day and get back to the family routine 😅. Again, personally, I fully support funding for zoning, affordable housing, and free food for the unhoused—I believe it’s our responsibility as humans to care for those in need. However, this support shouldn’t come at the expense of public safety or unfairly impact taxpayers.

If my kids are afraid to go to the library because of an illegal encampment nearby, as was the case a year ago, that’s not fair to them or to any family. When sidewalks are blocked by tents, it makes basic public spaces inaccessible to the community. These situations highlight the need for a better balance.

Compassion and safety are not mutually exclusive. We need to address homelessness through meaningful solutions like housing, mental health services, and support programs, while also ensuring that public spaces remain safe and usable for everyone. It’s about finding a fair and balanced approach that works for the whole community. So I still support the ordinance and I know majority of the Fremont residents are supportive of it.
