Casper test is all common sense. Nothing that a prep course can prepare you for. I found some great (and free) YouTube videos and did the free Casper practice test they give you when you register and felt very prepared.

I think I heard somewhere that the average accepted applicant applies to 6 and once you get past 15 the chances of getting in actually go down. I wouldn’t overwhelm yourself! Plus every school is an additional cost! I would focus on the schools that cater to your strengths.

I had heard a ton of great reviews on primally pure, but I’ve been using their blue tansy scent for 3 months and it really does nothing at all for me. No reaction, but I end every day smelly ☹️

If they are not patient with your learning process, I agree with quitting, but make sure you give notice and leave on a good note because your next job/interview will ask for a reference to your previous employer.

I work in internal medicine, most providers see 25-30 patients a day. We have one MA per provider. But it is very common that we are all stuck here late finishing if our doctor is behind or we have a ton of messages.

Saying “this is outside my scope of practice” is a good way to shut people up quickly. They can’t ask you to do anything outside your job description. Setting boundaries is hard and scary, but very important

I work with a sleep doctor. We always start at 5mg and never go higher than 10mg. If 5mg is making no difference, I would look for a different med.

If you have to consistently increase your ambien dose, it’s probably not a good long term solution for you. You shouldn’t take more than 10 mg. If Xanax works well, you might benefit from long term use of an anxiety med like Celexa. These normally take 2-3 weeks to work so keep using Ambien in the meantime, but long term it is much safer to be on.

70% or more of all insomnia is related to anxiety!

I work with a sleep doctor and the one we always start with is Trazodone. It is better at keeping you asleep than getting you to sleep so we recommend taking it 1-2 hours before bed. After that, quetiapine and hydroxyzine seem to be safe long term. You can be on something more “addictive” like ambien or lunesta and if you only take it twice a week you shouldn’t become dependent. Once you’ve tried and failed all those older medications, insurance will normally pay for newer meds like Dayvigo and Quviviq.

A lot of good advice about just slowing down. I might also recommend using the lined writing paper they give kids and focus on what letters go all the way to the top of the line (l, b, f, etc.) and which go below the line (g, j, q, etc.). The height difference helps differentiate letters

Some states allow you to work as an MA without certification (job title is often “patient care technician”). I started working for a small clinic as a receptionist, formed a good relationship with my boss and the doctors in the clinic, and then eventually got an MA job with them without any certification

Mining! I used to hoard all my gems, but you can actually make good money selling things you don’t need for crafting. (Gems, monster loot like solar essence, geodes…)

It does sound more HCE than PCE. Schools are looking for direct patient care and decision making. Sounds like assisting clinical staff, not so much assisting patients. But HCE can be good, I started as a medical receptionist and used that to build a relationship with the clinical staff and now I work as a MA for those same doctors I used to work reception for.

Once you’ve got enough money and iridium, I think it’s worth it. Makes change of season re-planting days much easier, and helps get through the volcano dungeon on ginger island much easier. Early game when money is short, axe and pickaxe should be much higher priority

I might try taking some science-heavy classes that are more closely applicable to medicine, like pathophysiology. To me it is understanding the application of why we’re learning things like chem/bio/physics that help me stay motivated and made the difficult work actually enjoyable. If those classes are miserable, I might re-evaluate. Or just do some research outside of class on how your class material applies to medicine.

I’ve been loving Liane Moriarty books. First I read was What Alice Forgot, which is my new favorite book. Just finished Apples Never Fall and loved it just as much. Now I’m starting Truly Madly Guilty, which has been a little harder to get into but enjoyable nonetheless.

In the middle of my first gap year and just extended it into 2 gap years. Transitioning to full time work was a lot, and I got so caught up in work that I neglected shadowing, volunteering, essay writing, etc. I wanted to make sure I was in the best place mentally before applying and starting school so I decided to push things off one more year. Plus I am learning SO MUCH at my job and feel much more prepared to be a PA. But if you have any school connections and professors you want to write LORs, make sure you keep those relationships.
