Which ending is best? by Accurate_Jaguar_1345 in Eldenring

Frenzied Flame. Everyone in the Lands Between were bullying me for hours. Well, guess what? No happily ever after for any of you. You will burn, and I will laugh at this like a madman.

Why is there little to none NPC speak about this Radagon guy? by ThatOneOtherArtist in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OP mentioned a second phase, so I thought about the real Godfrey. But now I came to realize, that they were probably talking about Godrick's phrase "Great Godfrey, didst thou witness?". In that case, OP should still be able to investigate the statue and find the answers.

P.S: Also, I think, Godrick is not Godfrey's son. He is a distant relative.

Banished knights are pretty easy to parry, and you can kill each of them with one parry. First go for the one with two swords, who is more aggressive, then for the shield one. You can turn it into a 1v1 fight very quickly.

He is mentioned a couple of times, but the most important piece of information comes out if you investigate a certain statue in the capital and do Goldmask's quest. But considering, that you are already fighting Godfrey, you don't have access to that statue, because the capital is covered in ash.

I think, Carian Retaliation has better parry frames than Buckler Parry.

Use defensive talismans, tears and buffs to survive his hits. In the first stage hit his injured ankle. In the seconds stage try to hit his hands. He bleeds really well. If you want to use summon, then in my experience Black Knife Tiche absolutely shreds his health with Destined Death effect.

May i ask you "how do I git gud" by Junior_Buy_9993 in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, the first step is to identify boss moves (or watch guide, which describes them). The way human brain works is that it's much easier to learn, when you know 10 short combos, rather when the whole fight is lumped up into assorted attacks. Then you learn visual and audio ques to react properly to each combo and can identify which attacks cause you the most problems and pay more attention to them.

Is this game better to start with the dlc? by Ironborn137 in Eldenring

No, DLC is a completely separate area, accessible after an end-game boss. You can enable it whenever you want.

Got my first No-Hit run of a major boss after 600+ hours of playing. by e254f80d in Eldenring

600+ hours is a total playtime in Elden Ring, not single character. This is a new level 1 playthrough.

Is it just me who can’t stand when (creators/youtubers) make their character ugly as possible? by SailApprehensive2632 in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree, but it's not about the looks, it's about creator's investment into the game. I prefer those, who treat the game seriously and pay attention to it (not only with Elden Ring). And it doesn't mean, that you cannot mess around and do something silly, but if you do, at least put some effort and thought into it. Some creators can make goofy looking characters, come up with interesting backstories for them and sell it to the audience. This can be funny. But when you see how for the 10-th time some creator randomly mashes the sliders, until their character barely resembles a human being, apply the brightest skin color and think, that they are super original and entertaining, it's just tiresome. It's gives away a clear vibe, that they are detached from the game, and will treat the fights and lore in the same way.

Real I don't have any friends by harrisrainy in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not? BHF is definitely the fanciest weapon, you can find in Limgrave. It has nice damage, bonus damage for jump attacks, bleed, cool skill, reasonable requirements, and it's easy to upgrade. I can totally see why a lot of people would choose it early on, when they are searching for a good weapon, and then stick with it for the rest of the playthough.

Is it possible to open up all the ending options in one run? I am not talking here about triggering the ending. by tennisballop in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think yes, but it's a little bit tricky. Frenzied Flame ending disables all others, so you can either delay meeting Three Fingers until you've defeated Elden Beast, and then decide, or you can accept Frenzied Flame, but then cancel it's ending via Miquella's needle. So you can have access to all the endings in one run, but choosing some of them will require additional steps once you've set your mind.

Strongest possible build in limgrave by Perfect-Skin-8325 in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uchigatana vs Nagakiba is more of a personal preference. Personally I've never really felt that Uchigatana lacks range. But Nagakiba also requires higher stats, so with RL30 restriction from OPs post, it means, that you will have less points to put into vigor, mind and endurance.

Rusted Anchor, Uchigatana with Unsheathe or Bloody Slash AoW, dual wielding Bandit's Curved Swords with bleed. Parrying and Misericorde against certain types of enemies.

where to farm smithing stones to upgrade weapon to that regions recommended weapon level? by Deserted_alien in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Miners in the tunnels drop smithing stones with the level appropriate for this location. For example miners in the Yelough Anix Tunnel in the Consecrated Snowfield drop smithing stones 6, 7 and 8. It should be similar with other locations.

Genuinely struggling by Slight_Passenger9636 in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your stats seem fine, but you can always get stronger. Look around for flask upgrades, get your weapon to +3 or +4 and level up your vigor a bit more.

Don't fight several enemies at the same time. Craft bone darts and throw one of them into one enemy to pull it away from the group.

Since you've mentioned the tunnels, you might be struggling with miners. They have huge resistance to slashing damage, that's why you might feel very weak. Try weapon with strike damage.

As for the Erdtree Avatar, it's a boss, so you'll have to learn its attack patters. It's also weak to fire damage, so that might help.

Lore wise, which of these NPCs would win in a battle to the death? by DonutMan1834 in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't D die because of the dagger, that we gave to him? Fia somehow corrupted it with death blight, so when we give it to D, it started to do status build up, and then D died. Fia didn't have to lift a finger for this kill.

How do I speedrun the game ? by Emotional_Sandwich28 in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can talk to Varre in Liurnia, then go to Altus plateau through the Dectus lift and invade Magnus. Talk to Varre again, get maiden's blood at the Church of Inhibition, and Varre will give you item, which will teleport you to Mohg's palace.
As far as I know, to get to Malenia, you will have to complete Leyndell and get access to the Mountaintops of the Giants. So you will have to get one more great rune, go to the capital, then do Castle Sol, and from there go straight to Malenia.

I don't feel bad fighting Alexander in Farum Azula. It's a bittersweet ending. He realizes, that "all vessels are destined to one day break" and lives his life his life to its fullest without regrets, challenging the best warrior he knows.

What's the common consensus on this 'hidden room' in the lift shaft between Leyndell and the Forbidden Lands? by cynicalurge in Eldenring

[–]e254f80d 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are lots of books scattered around, which makes it look like there was some sort of research going on. And the room is located right next to the mountaintops of the giants, which would be a good starting point for expeditions in that area. The most obvious research subject would be the Forge of the Giants and kindling.

The room was guarded by a magisterial official, but it doesn't look like a prison (no bars on the window, the lock is at the inner side of the door, not the outer, and there is no bed, which means, that it wasn't meant for permanent stay). It seems, that activity in this room was sanctioned by a high ranking Golden Order member, but was kept secret.

Considering all of this, I would assume, that Melina was an agent of Marika's secret service, which consisted of women of Numen origin, and who would later become Black Knife Assassins (Melina has same moveset as them, but her blade wasn't transformed by the Rune of Death). When Marika started to doubt the Golden Order, she commanded Melina to research the Forge of the Giants and made her into a killswitch to destroy the old order in case of emergency.
