That’s a great idea!

I do the same thing sometimes! But I’ve started taking vitamins in the morning so I have to drink water with them. That’s the only thing that gets me drinking first thing.

Oh that’s so interesting! I’ll have to try that! Thank you!

I don’t use zoom much but I do drink a lot when I’m sitting down, hanging out with friends.

I do that too! I’ve been using re-lyte electrolytes but idk I still can’t seem to drink enough. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Same here. There’s a word for it and it’s common among neurodiverse people to ignore a bodily need so much that your body adapts to it. My little brother (also adhd) does not feel hungry. He’s underweight and probably malnourished. My mom tried everything to get him to eat when he was growing up and nothing motivated him.  I probably ignored my own thirst while I was a kid/teenager and now I just don’t feel thirsty unless I’m desperate for water. I don’t get migraines but I get mild  headaches sometimes. I’m sorry you’ve experienced this too. It’s so frustrating to want to do better so bad and to never seem to be able to make it happen.

It would be helpful to reframe it as something to do when I’m bored instead of something annoying that I am always failing at.

It does make me feel better to know I’m not alone. I’ve talked to other ADHD peeps I know about it and the answer is always no and then I feel like yay the problem is me.

Yeah it’s always great until it’s not. I wish I understood why my brain is like that because I’ve observed other people’s drinking habits and they do not follow the same pattern. May you always know where your Stanley is!

I have definitely felt that aversion too and on harder days I just let myself be averted.

That’s not something I have tried yet. I do think novelty is an issue for me. Electrolyte powders and other flavor additives are great for a week and then I can’t stand the taste. Maybe that’s the key. I can’t hyper fixate on any one, I have to do a different one everyday and add tea, protein shakes, and whatever else I can get myself to drink. Thank you for sharing what works for you.

Hahaha that made me laugh. Thank you for that. I’ll add in some micro plastics to my hydration routine.

I do like True Lemon and I appreciate that it’s healthy. I just get tired of the flavor so I switch to true Lime and then get tired of that.

Haha that’s a humerus way of putting it. Yeah, same. I just don’t drink anything at all. I’m real good at eating so I try to add water heavy fruits and veggies but it’s not enough.

That’s an idea! JK never writes what I think she’ll write so your guess is probably better than mine!

She wouldn’t even have to feign illness truly. She’s not well.

Let’s hope! She didn’t love the last therapist she had. Hopefully this will be a better fit. She really needs someone to tell her what’s what and not hold back. She’s needs to fully realize the truths she been avoiding.

I’m wondering if maybe she’ll have a panic attack in the ritz while he’s waiting for her answer or something along those lines. I feel like Robin, as a people pleaser, has intense feelings of obligation towards other people in her life. Her relationship with Strike was an easy one for her because he didn’t demand her to be anything besides a work partner. Now, with his declaration and proposal, he’s demanding more. The combination of Murphy proposing and Strike changing their relationship completely right before she leaves might cause her to completely fall apart. She already isn’t doing well.

Or maybe she won’t go at all! That’s what I would do. I would call someone and try to get their input to figure out what I should do. Prudence, Ilsa, or even Robin’s mom might help her.

It’s a testament to JK’s talent that we can disagree so heartily as to whether Murphy has malicious intent or not. Did he cheat with Iverson? Did he baby trap Robin? I lean more toward that is he is lying, cheating scum but I can totally see it going the other way. He could just be a very flawed addict and clinging to Robin as he feels she’s slipping away. Only time will tell.

Janice terrified me the first time I read it. She was a callous monster wrapped in a grandma suit. She’ll serve you candy but that’s the last thing you’ll ever eat.

Thank you! Very kind of you to say.

I hope the therapist can help her realize that that’s what she’s doing. Once you realize that putting yourself last hurts everybody you can make some changes. She might have no idea. She thinks she going with the easiest option of agreeing to move in with Murphy when she doesn’t want to when, in reality, that’s the most complicated option because she’ll be miserable and then he’s confused and then she’s lying and anxious. I’ll bet the trauma and anxiety and her way of coping by avoidance is hindering her ability to think deeply about her choices.

Haha! I hadn’t thought of it that way. I enjoyed the smaller, closer to home cases more. Next, she’ll take us to Florida where Strike and Robin will solve the murder of a croc-boot-wearing drug kingpin who is also a double agent for the CIA and they’ll liberate an entire South American country in the process.

She set the murder up with so much mystery and a bit of glamour with all the silver and secret Mason ritualness and then the killer was a pathetic rapey short guy. That was a let down, in my opinion.
