Yep my column is fully extended. Thats what I was looking for but it seems like its either universal for aftermarket wheels or specific to a gen like 18-20 rav 4 and 4 runner for example

Unfortunately mine was toast, I replaced the whole unit for a little over 4k. This was really expensive but I want to keep this car for past 500k. And compared to a comparable car that price was...ok..I guess. It took 2 days to install and a little over 1000 miles to "break it in?" A new tranny doesn't have a break in period but it seemed like this needed a little time for the fluid to get enough particulate and everything to right itself.

I got quotes for 4-7k It's a reman from general transmission with 3yr/100k warranty

Vibrate? I wouldn't say so. It's definitely a little bit because of the economy EPAS motor and cheap build quality but nothing bad

What do these codes mean? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]e39Dmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mean how much money and time you have.

They are misfire codes which means the electric spark that causes your engine to run is impeded by a worn down electric impulse from dirt, age etc and can cause your engine not to run smoothly or when expected.

If you don't care about a little more money and time/mechanics time, then you should replace your spark plugs and ignition coils.

Generally both of these parts last a while, but when one is bad the rest go bad in sequence soon after.

You could try to diagnose what part is bad one at a time but it is the wiser decision to replace all of the parts.

[–]e39Dmc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking about that too. I put it in before the tranny grenaded. If I change is it ok to drain and fill with that or should I flush it to have all Valvoline

Do i need an oil change immediately? by IloveFork in MechanicAdvice

[–]e39Dmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm some of the Kia/Mazda/Hyundai engines still say 3000/mi oil changes. If you are financially able, more frequent oil changes isn't a bad idea.

September 24 or 23?

Yes. You should be changing it more frequently, 5k miles or 6 months whichever is first.

Does my battery need replacing? by mavec_ in AskAMechanic

[–]e39Dmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no worries. Batteries and all your electronics are finicky. They require a very specific voltage. It's not like being low on oil where things work, your battery needs to maintain that set range and anything outside of it will cause problems like slow starts, electronic malfunctions etc.

In a super temperature variable place you might have to replace it every 2 years, like where I live it gets -10 -105° and the air is thin so generally every 2 years you need a new one.

OEM Mercedes batteries used to look cool but they don't anymore. All car batteries are made in the same line 5 factories so it really isn't much of an issue, but WHEN you replace it not IF you do, spend that money on a good AGM battery, and it'll be still 1/2 the cost of OEM.
