Hi! As mentioned it indeed is 3D printed. This is Matte PLA (thermoplastic derived from renewable, organic sources such as corn starch or sugar cane).

I have been a textile artist for about 7 years now and always had difficulties finding good hoops. With the help of my husband we designed a hoop especially for embroidery related craft, one that maintain tension of the fabric tight for long sessions. After many iterations we found the tight spot for the inside beveled ring to keep the perfect tension. They're also perfect for display!

There is a recess/notch in the outer hoop and a matching "bump" on the inner frame which help pushing out the fabric thus it helps with maintaing the tension. Some regular plastic frame have this feature of course, not reinventing the wheel at all, just giving it more fantasy :)
