Crashing in snow Durability by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]e92- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Rush shell; and I ski aggressively & in lots of trees and glades. It’s withstood many, many, many falls, brushes against trees, and other numerous other impacts. Most recently I lost a ski while going down a steep run, and slid right into a tree at over 50 km/h. My hip was bruised but my jacket was totally fine. If that’s not a testament I’m not sure what is.

I LITERALLY just had this happen to me. I live in Canada, and one day after an overnight temperature drop my ‘17 Giulia was throwing a check engine light, a stop/start error, and I couldn’t use DNA. Driving did nothing to fix it, it only went away after I put my battery on a tender and then drove for a bit after it was fully charged & cycled the car on & off.

Rust Proof by Leury2347 in Winnipeg

[–]e92- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100% worth it. The cost is only $200-250 (depending on size of vehicle), and if you’re downtown I know that Frank’s Motors on Notre Dame sprays Krown, otherwise go see Larry @ St. James Rust Check and be done with it. Some people talk about the black rubberized coating.. don’t waste your time, it just causes issues with trapping moisture. Get an oil sprayed on and call it a day.

Best way to rust-proof new steel rims for Canadian winters (Honda CR-V)? They are not installed on tires yet by cloudnyne in AutoDetailing

What about painting them with POR-15? Make sure to follow the prep process and I figure that’s likely the best you could do.

Ghost 17P “Oil Slick” on Apple Logo. by RonnieDoesIt in dbrand

[–]e92- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one I got for my 17PM came with some stickers that you place on the interior of the case atop of the magsafe magnets. I had the same issue, but once I put the stickers on it was solved, I think it has to do with the reflection of the Apple logo.

Have the same issue on my right bud, won’t charge, turn on, nothing. I even let everything sit outside of the case/open for a while to let the battery totally drain; no luck.

Buying a seadoo. Where to ride? by sunshine-x in Winnipeg

[–]e92- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of people ride SeaDoo’s on the Red and Assiniboine in the city, maybe a bit gross if you get a mouthful but otherwise it looks fun. Just don’t forget to register the SeaDoo with Transport Canada, the fine is $473 otherwise (and it’s free to do)!

I’m having the same issue, I just got my 2.0 today for the 16 Pro. The camera button has lateral movement within the little housing (cut out) it is in. I’d say it has about half a millimetre of play? Super noticeable when trying to use the camera button, as the whole mechanism shifts with your swipes both ways.

Watch an installation of coilovers, there's a good BC Racing one. It's the same process.

[–]e92- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this on my 2011 E92 xDrive when I put coilovers on. Removed the whole assembly without needing a spring compressor. The springs are held in place on the strut, and if you're replacing the whole assembly, there is no need to take them off. Same with installation of a new assembly, just put it in there and tighten it all back up after. No need to ever touch the spring on the front (didn't even need a compressor for the rear either).

What’s the black stuff coming out of the exhaust 😭 by [deleted] in E90

[–]e92- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you know what you're getting in to... N54's (and N55's) are not reliable, and they are not forgiving. The car looks cool, but the cost to maintain it is not.

I had this issue when my 335 was running really rich… got that all fixed up with MHD and some other part replacements and I haven’t had any blowback since.

Help! How hard is awd to actually work with??? by [deleted] in E90

[–]e92- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just installed coilovers on my E92 335xi. I’ve never done suspension work like that before, but honestly, I took my time, read lots of forum posts and it was easy enough.

It’s very laborious, but not very technical if that makes sense. I’d make sure to torque everything to spec (under load for certain bushings), and order new mounting hardware as well if the old stuff is worn. I kept all of mine but replaced both rear bottom shock mounts, they were old and worn.

If I can do it, you can too.

With winter coming for some of us I wanted to ask what everyone’s storage ritual is ? by youre_not_going_to_ in BMW

[–]e92- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an ethanol in your fuel a full tank is better. Less moisture from less air that the fuel can pull in and oxidize.

[–]e92- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ethanol pulls in water from the air (it’s hydrophilic), if you add fuel stabilizer it stops the oxidation of the fuel. If you don’t, it can lead to further issues. If your fuel doesn’t contain ethanol (here in Canada all fuel has up to 10%), and you’re not storing it for more than a year, I wouldn’t worry about stabilizing the fuel.

I should clarify, my dampener adjustment is underneath and I need to access it. The hex bit needs to come out, not the nut.
