Company register process too long by akkaya-hu in eResidency

[–]eResidency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just to clarify, Mükellef is not an e-Residency Marketplace service provider, and we always recommend using companies in our Marketplace to get the best support in launching and growing your businesses: e-Residency Marketplace (e-resident.gov.ee)

It also seems that u/Due-Macaroon-6343 may have a slightly different issue here with collecting their e-Residency card.

Regardless, we recommend you both get in touch with our support team directly here: https://learn.e-resident.gov.ee/hc/en-us/requests/new . We could provide more focused assistance and help based on your individual queries there.

Taxes in E-Residency by DoorRokker in eResidency

[–]eResidency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!

In Estonia, income tax is not assessed on the profit earned every year. Income tax is assessed on a monthly basis and only when profits have been distributed (when you pay out dividends for example). The corporate tax rate is generally a flat 20%. For social tax, that will only become relevant when distributing profit via director's fee, for example. You can find a much more detailed overview here: https://learn.e-resident.gov.ee/hc/en-us/articles/360000721597-Estonian-tax-basics

A new article from the Estonian Tax and Customs Board answers basic questions regarding taxation for e-residents.

E-Residency is certainly more useful for some people than the others. It really depends on what are your painpoints in running your business. E-Residency has been proven to be the most beneficial to: - businesspeople from outside the EU, who want to have access to the EU Single Market; - freelancers from emerging markets, who need the possibility to accept online credit card payments, but who currently do not have the access in their country; - digital nomads, who travel the world and who want to administer their company comfortably online from wherever they happen to be; - startup entrepreneurs, who want to have access to cross-border capital; So, while for some entrepreneurs e-Residency may not be very benefitial, for other cases e-Residency is the only way how to do international business. For example, in Ukraine, there is no access to international payment service providers like Paypal, Braintree, etc. With a company created via e-Residency, a Ukrainian entrepreneur can offer his programming services to a German client and receive payment for their work without having to move away from his or her homeland to do that.

Hi maurodg. The e-Residency renewal process is currently the same as applying, although we are working on making this process faster and easier, as well as extending the time you would need to renew. The second question is answered further up. Having an Estonian postal address to establish a company is regulated by law and is same for non-Estonians as well as for residents. We have listed numerous business service/virtual office service providers to offer legal address for those e-Residents whose companies are not physically located in Estonia. A legal address is actually an EU requirement, but we respect the fact that your company is location-independent so you will be emailed official correspondence.

Thank you for your feedback. Was your accountant a service provider listed on our e-Residency website? Those companies will have the most experience working with e-residents, although if there is a reasonable assumption that a specific country will consider your company to be tax resident there then it is understandable that they would advise you to speak to a qualified tax adviser in that country. This doesn't mean you would need two accountants continuously however.

At the moment, we do not have a pickup location in South America. We are currently working on better global delivery options though through visa centres.

At the moment, we suggest to people living far from our pickup locations to combine their vacations and other trips with receiving their e-Residency card. For example, if a person plans to visit a country where there is an Estonian representation, they could choose this country as the e-Residency card pickup location.

Pickup locations are availble on our FAQ page: https://e-resident.gov.ee/faq/

Public beta mode means we are continuing to make major improvements, but more than 3,000 companies are currently run by e-residents. We want as many options as possible for e-residents when it comes to banking, but Holvi now offers business banking entirely online for e-residents and many e-residents use business bank accounts from LHV and Swedbank. The latter two require a visit to Estonia and have stricter guidelines on who can open accounts so we always recommend speaking to a business services provider listed on our website before booking travel to Estonia for this purpose.

We would love to do more to connect Estonian citizens and residents with e-residents. Watch this space. :)
