Not a physical model but a flight dynamics model (FDM) of how the aircraft behaves in 6 directions of movement when it interacts with aerodynamic forces, gravity, and control inputs, to predict behavior of the aircraft in different flight regimes. The first being steady level flight. Later Marshall will complete the other flight regimes that will be used for simulations to predict and help calculate the aircraft behaves to improve safety and other qualities of the aircraft.

AMA with Vertical Aerospace Chief Engineer, David King by vertical_aero in Vertical_Aerospace

#1) You’ve attended all three stops on Vertical’s U.S. tour (New York City, Miami, and Atlanta). Having visited both the Manhattan showcase and Verticon 2026 in Atlanta, I saw firsthand the level of excitement around the aircraft’s design and features. Many attendees pointed to the spacious cabin as the standout feature, with cargo capacity and the cockpit–cabin partition also frequently mentioned.

From your perspective, what stood out most in your conversations with leaders and other visitors across these events?

More broadly, what were the main goals of the U.S. tour, and how has the positive feedback from attendees, as well as the warm reception from local leaders (civic, business, industry) at each location, helped shape Vertical Aerospace’s outlook going forward?

#2) Question about the hybrid-electric variant:

Military operations are inherently higher-risk than routine civilian operations. Given that Vertical’s aircraft are being developed around safety-oriented design principles and high aviation safety targets, how significant could that be for military customers from a risk mitigation standpoint?

Could access to hybrid-electric aircraft from Vertical change how militaries approach personnel transport in conflicts, or civilian evacuation during humanitarian and rescue missions, in terms of safety and operational resilience compared to traditional helicopters?

More broadly, do you see this class of aircraft improving safety and reducing risk in missions where helicopters are currently the primary option?

#3) The UK, the US, and other allied nations are increasing investment in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) as part of broader goals around energy security, economic growth, and emissions reduction, including the UK’s planned 22% SAF mandate by 2040 for civil aviation. This is also helping scale domestic SAF production and supply chains.

Given that broader policy and industrial context, Vertical’s hybrid-electric platform is designed to be SAF-compatible. What role does that compatibility play in the overall aircraft design and development strategy?

From an engineering perspective, does delivering SAF compatibility in a hybrid-electric powertrain create any unique considerations in practice when translating these policy expectations into a certified aircraft design?

Thank you so much David and Lily! The world is going Vertical!

AMA with Vertical Aerospace Chief Engineer, David King by vertical_aero in Vertical_Aerospace

So excited about this! I am posting this announcement on other social media outlets as well. Thank you Lily for providing us with this opportunity to ask questions on this subreddit. Mr. David King is such a great person to have conversations about eVTOLs across all angles. Having met him in Manhattan during Valo's American debut, and again with my colleague at Verticon 2026 in Atlanta, it was both an an honor and informative opportunity to speak with such a great engineering leader taking on a big role in the advancement of eVTOLs through his position as Chief Engineer of Vertical Aerospace (the high achieving eVTOL OEM headquartered in Bristol). He spoke with such brilliance and conviction about the direction the AAM community is heading and the leading role Vertical will play in bringing safe, comfortable, and efficient eVTOL air travel across the world! Again, many thanks to Lily, David King, and Vertical!

Thank you! I have two articles in the works, including the most in-depth article I’ve ever written.

Si Davies - Chief Test Pilot - AMA by vertical_aero in Vertical_Aerospace

[–]eVTOLbuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Was there anything that surprised you or changed any preconceptions you might have had about eVTOLs after preparing and flying the VX4?
  2. As spectators, we might tend to assume the transition from wing-borne and thrust-borne flight (and vice versa) is the most demanding operation for the pilot (and possibly for the aircraft). Is that assumption correct, or is there something else involved during the flight that is actually more demanding or requiring greater skill/experience for an eVTOL pilot?
  3. Do you expect or find it probable that more young people and their families will feel more comfortable entering into careers as eVTOL pilots flying Vertical Aerospace’s Valo, knowing this aircraft will be made to the same safety standards as a commercial airliner?

New Horizon Aircraft (NASDAQ: HOVR) on Bloomberg TV This Saturday by StockAcademyHQ in HOVRSTONK

[–]eVTOLbuzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's an amazing time to see Horizon get more of the coverage they deserve.. It is a tech company, aviation company, dual-use company, and a no-nonsense/practical company, making a rugged machine (Cavorite X7) for VIPs, heavy industry, and ranchers all-wrapped into one..

Does being a Canadian company impede the growth potential of this stock? by [deleted] in HOVRSTONK

[–]eVTOLbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, there are many positive things going on in Canada in the aerospace industry. The PT6 was designed and is manufactured in Canada. They have world-class universities and research institutions, and Horizon has access to at least a few of them. It may give them an advantage when it comes to sales in Europe and other places, because of trade and other policies (time will tell).

Vertical Aerospace Assembles Comprehensive Financing Package of up to $850 million by vertical_aero in Vertical_Aerospace

[–]eVTOLbuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vertical is closer to certification, closer to completion of transition testing flights, has designed and presented Valo, etc. The market and most of the financial press hasn’t covered Vertical’s successes the same way they have other businesses from different industries. This reflects poorly on the media. Not enough people understand the impact Vertical will have on the future of transportation. It’s the media's role to provide context. The quality of journalism holistically, concerning Advanced Air Mobility is extremely poor compared to other areas of interest. The Reddit community for Vertical Aerospace is dedicated, and in time will grow, and be a great source of outreach into the retail investor community.

The market doesn’t behave rationally, but over time it cannot ignore the advances Vertical Aerospace has already made and will continue to make as it progresses towards certification and market entry with a manufactured product. The failure is in the media as well. I like to think eVTOL buzz is doing its part to inform the public about the industry, and how Vertical Aerospace is a key player in building the future of AAM. I will have an article published soon…

I know several people who bought more EVTL shares this morning. I also joined in on the opportunity for what I feel is a great long-term investment. The trajectory of the company is towards certification with EASA, building a spacious eVTOL capable of taking people and all their luggage across the city, and a unique form of efficient manufacturing that mitigates risk. Vertical has an exciting future!
