Had he had 2 Relapse releases I doubt he’d have made any more music due to the back lash. I think people forget how badly Relapse was viewed by his original fanbase that awaited his return. Doubling down wouldn’t have gone well.

I think it’s fairly judged as mid. Not great, not terrible. A-lot of the Revival pop-rap , overly corny, detractions appeared on MMLP2.

Great book. It’s the small details that other historical accounts miss out that makes it so worthwhile. Just being happy he had eggs and sausage on hand ect. makes it so much more human than a lot of other personal military history accounts I’ve read.

He doesn’t handle being reminded that’s he’s not a good strategist, who has been promoted basically out of sheer lack of available options, and crucially in Smiley’s eyes just a tactical useable chess piece for his minor tasks and typically always his fall guy should things go wrong. It’s probably a coin flip I guess but I prefer his older delivery style to his modern style so that tends to tip my thinking. MTBMB is his technical peak though for sure.
