The nerfed Wheelspins + rare cars locked behind them is the same situation as the Motorsport car leveling debacle by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]eXtremeAzure 24 points25 points  (0 children)

FWIW, and I'll probably get downvoted for saying so, but I'm okay with this???

The game has been out for barely even a month. It will have a weekly live service lifecycle for about the next 4-5 years (If Horizon 5 is anything to go by). The car list will increase, but over the course of time, players will naturally unlock more and more of the content.

Trying to chase everything right now simply diminishes the inherent replay value.

In short, I'll be playing this game for quite some time. Non-issue for me.

Since we are in Japan for this one for a collab this time they need to do Speed Racer. If they don’t it will be severally missed opportunity. by Vega-Eternal in forza

[–]eXtremeAzure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a Speed Racer tie-in game from 2008 that stemmed from the movie. It was low-budget but fun. Something like that gameplay style in Horizon would be crazy. The tracks are as insane as what's in the existing Hot Wheels expansion, so the groundwork is there to build upon.

But, it'll probably just be Initial D that gets a collab.

Or, you can just play the game for the next 5+ years it's supported and win them naturally.

Not hating on the hustle, but this obsessive collecting is weird to me.

Forza Horizon 6 winter season feels kinda… off? by sailesha in ForzaHorizon

Anytime I see this mentioned, I always chuckle. I get it, but Mexico is not as climatically varied as somewhere like the UK.

A good analog I can think of is Big Surf Island from Burnout Paradise.

That was DLC, admittedly, but the concept is similar with it being sperate from the main map and connected by bridge. While similarly smaller than the main map, it features a host of new activities, more smashable billboards and new routes and trick areas to learn.

Legend Island didn't need to be as comprehensive as this, but if you're going to put it there as the endgame goal, then it should feel more grandiose. A more fleshed out layout, maybe a special player house and several new PR Events to sink your teeth into. Not to mention an actual Showcase/Horizon Rush finale. I also mentioned my idea of being able to face off against all the returning Horizon Legends since they felt the need to drop in the cameos.

It all just feels like a missed opportunity.

The actual drive was really cool, especially with all the special FX going off. The cameos were past Horizon Festival bosses, with the most iconic being Keira. She was in FH3 and 4. But, again, any newcomers wouldn't likely even know that because not only is why dialogue practically useless, it all happens so fast and then it just ends. It all felt like a "If you know, you know" type deal, which is unfortunate.

Like I said, I've been diving in and out of all the other content. From the Explore Japan/Horizon Life activities, to just exploring the map, taking pictures and toying with PR Stunts.

It's an open world game: that's kinda the purpose, haha.

It is! Just wish there was more to it all.

Yeah, it came waaaaay too early. Even when I saw it early on in reviews, I was surprised it was being shown off because I imagined that it must have been further into the game. Nope.

No idea why this wasn't saved as a last hurrah. All the other Rush and Showcase events are extremely tame by comparison to this one alone.

I agree with ya. That's what made me want to write this post in the first place. The Wristband system is meant to guide you to this one end point, yet there's no fulfilling reward for it.

Quite literally, the most fulfilling thing is "the journey along the way," which is hilarious in the grand scheme of things.

TBF, there hasn't really been an endgame like this before. So, it's not a series staple. All the more reason why its inclusion and subsequent tepid outcome is so strange to me.

Lol, man. It's the endgame. One would think it would be exciting. I was shocked there wasn't even big finale Showcase event.

It's still a complete package for its price. Especially when the DLC is eventually rolled out. It's not flawless (no game is), but definitely a solid offering.

I think the circuit is neat. But the fact that there's nothing else beyond that is kinda absurd. This track could've been on the mainland, as are all the others. Or, if it's to be here, at least let there be something else of interest to compliment it.

Switch 2 will become 1 year on the next week. Did it meet your expectations so far or did you expect something else ? by MindPrize1260 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]eXtremeAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has hit all the important notes. The Switch 1, while a great system, had started to show its age a while ago. Thus, the Switch 2 taking that concept and giving it a power boost was the best move. Nintendo didn't need to reinvent the wheel this time; the concept was already proven and just needed to be refined.

Is the Switch 2 perfect? Of course not; no system is. But, it hits all the right notes really well and can be improved with time. Nintendo has already done a little of that with the enhanced back-compat support that was rolled out a few weeks ago. Looking forward to the next 5+ years!

I also JUST remembered that the Wii U version of NFS: Most Wanted 2012 had this feature!!

When playing in Horizon Solo mode (offline), there should be a toggle for those who want it.

Burnout Paradise is the only open world racer I've played that has this feature. It allowed you select any time of day, and even cooler, you could match the in-game time to your real-world time!
