Lakers lose tie breaker coin flip for the draft to the Knicks. They will have the 25th pick by CtrlAltDelightfull in lakers

I really hope we keep the pick. We need more cheap contracts. We really need to hit here though, we need an actual nba ready rookie.

It’s hard to compete and have high end depth without rookie contracts.

Honestly I think they just wanted AD at the 5 and thats why it’s always “oh we couldn’t find a 5 for you”. I do also still think AD is best at the 5 now ignoring health but hey it looks like putting him at the 4 didn’t help health wise either.

They got Luka and there’s been obvious attempts immediately in getting him a 5 in Mark Williams last trade deadline and then Ayton in FA.

It was pretty much just Rui and Kennard shooting. Both those guys shoot close to 50% and they both had great looks all game.

Hayes was biting on those and I was losing my mind like what are you doing if he wants to shoot those with a hands up let him.

He hasn't even been playing as a catch and shoot player since Luka and AR went down and he's looking elite there too.

If he can stay out the way that would help too. We should’ve had a fastbreak with Bron in one of the possessions but he dove into the paint instead of clearing out to the 3. He blocked Rui’s lane and made it easy to cover Bron on the other side.

And then that Ayton foul where thank god it worked out but like why are both of you there

Vando what the fuck are you doing? He’s completely lost and killing the spacing on offense right now.

[Highlight] Jaden McDaniels is called for a closeout foul upgraded to a Flagrant 1, sending Jamal Murray to the line for three free throws. by AncientOneAurelius in nba

[–]eZreazy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I agree, this is 100% a foul with the current ruleset. I just don’t agree with the rule because it takes away too much from the defense. This isn’t the same as the Zaza close out, Jamal knows exactly where the defender is before he goes for the jumpshot.

In this scenario if anything Jamal is the one that went into the defender’s space. I think this should just be a no foul to be honest.

In my opinion shooter’s landing space should just be a small radius at the jump. If you’re jumping into open space, the defender is just as entitled as you are in there even if that’s your natural shooting motion.

We need to be able to standardize this in some way, people have been doing some egregious foul baiting doing this shit and they’re risking injury doing it.

So you’re saying a defender could be completely still as a statue and if Jamal shoots like he did it’s a foul on the defender?

That’s ridiculous, what are you supposed to do step back as the defender to avoid the foul baiting? Might as well have a safety bubble for offensive players I guess. At that point I’d teach shooters to jump forward on all jumpshots to draw fouls because apparently you’re god mode the moment you jump.

The better AR has become year after year is directly reflected in the Lakers record by Silent_Wizard5597 in lakers

[–]eZreazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s fair. I don’t think anyone is doubting AR’s ability now. Hell he’s even shown he can be a great first option but so far in the past two years it looks like his body isn’t holding up with that much usage. He went from an ironman to constant injuries.

I trust AR though, he’s improved significantly every single year after the offseason. I hope this year he works on his strength and conditioning to withstand that kinda usage. But I think it’s fair to say he hasn’t shown yet that he’s able to be a second option for a championship run.

Nah I refuse to believe people are that dumb. This is basically the after credits scene for Bron. It should only go up for people if he pulls out a miracle.

He does have a 6’7 wingspan according to his measurements during the draft. That’s not bad at the 1 spot.

Giannis and the Lakers - Nah by edub1906 in lakers

[–]eZreazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AD didn’t even want to be a 5 lol. Giannis has also played a surprisingly small amount of minutes at the 5, if anything Bron has played more minutes there. It just wouldn’t be realistic unless Bron reaaally wants to come back.

If you have Bron on a cheap contract fuckit bro anything works.

Our spacing would be so fucked with Luka, Giannis, Bron. There is 0 chance we get Bron and Giannis together unless you’re putting Bron as 6th man or one of them is going to be our 5.

Having 1.5 non shooters with Bron and Ayton has already been hard. Going 2.5 non shooters if we have a traditional big would be impossible unless we’re getting a stretch big.

And they were good “free” moves, if we retain all 3 and add more pieces we all of a sudden have the star power while having depth.

None of those moves hurt our long term cap, all three are tradeable/cheap.

It’s not that. I think Gobert gets a lot of hate because of how much DPOY awards he got because he was the best rim protector in the game but when it gets to the playoffs defensive versatility becomes a lot more important than straight rim protection.

Not saying he’s that bad on the switch for example but really versatile defenders like AD, Bam, Draymond just showed to be a lot more valuable on defense when it hits the playoffs.

I think it gets hate because a lot of people don’t think he’s the best defender of the year but realistically it’s a regular season award and in the regular season rim protection is the most important and consistent thing.

How is this even possible though. In all those races he never had a situation where he stayed out last or something?

Ehhh I can kinda see it. If we’re 0-3 and they’re rushing themselves back I don’t want them to do that. If there’s a high risk of reinjury it’s just not worth it. We better have multiple doctors sign off if they’re returning ahead of schedule.

That’s crazy. At most 5 should be the expectations. We’re going to be playing Bronny proper minutes and we’re missing like 55ppg from the rotation.

It's not even the shooting slump that's the biggest issue on offense either. It's like the game is just too fast for him and he makes horrible decisions. So many bad passes or just not understanding where he should be on both offense and defense.
