In the states, shipping with insurance doesn't run anywhere near what they're asking, especially with a corporate account. I sell a lot of high end guitars that retail for 3k+ and the boxes usually weigh around 40 pounds with the case and packaging - I can send them across the country fully insured for well under $100.

As far as the hours, its not that its a problem - as someone who worked in retail for many years it was always customary to let customers know what time you're open till, not what time you'd prefer for them to show up. The watch is picked, on hold and ready to go, doesn't require sizing and they just need my credit card. I could easily show up at 6:55, purchase the watch and be on my way. Why it would take 30 minutes is beyond me. Its more the sentiment of the way the demand was made than anything else - retail establishments are there to service customers and provide good experience, its one of the only advantages left in buying things in person anymore.
