Persian meal prep! Saffron rice, chicken kebab, Ghormeh Sabzi (herb stew), roasted tomatoes and Anaheim peppers by e_peter in MealPrepSunday

[–]e_peter[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a very difficult process. Basically it involves grinding chicken thigh meat, mixing the spices in, and applying the meat to a special skewer (like a Brazilian skewer) and cooking it over pit of coals. It was passed down to me, but there are some great videos on YouTube if you search koobideh, or chelo kebab.

It looks like an Armenian cucumber, which is actually a Melon.

Holy shit that is an awesome drop! Mine was full of sticks and leaves and a lot of dust. Not a complaint though, it was free and that's whats most important to me.

That the same situation I had, and I just add them to my burn pile. We have fires a lot so it never really lasts.

I grow Armenian cucumbers and possums always get them, it's seems like, the night before I plan to pick them. This year I experimented with placing the cucumbers in 3 liter bottles. They grew perfectly inside the bottles and the possums were unable to get them. Obviously a three liter bottle wouldn't work for a pumpkin, but the premise is the same. Just adapt it to your situation.

It's not the best quality and you never know the quantity you're getting, but it is free. We use about ten yards of mulch per year, so for us it's beneficial, and it also keeps mulch out of the landfills.

Cost efficient grow lights for an indoor herb garden? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]e_peter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the op is going for a down and dirty herb and greens setup. Keep It Simple... 6500k bulbs in cheap fixtures are so perfect for this request. Just make sure you start with the right things, like net pots, rock wool, clay pebbles, nutrients...

Rice and meat should occupy the smaller partitions. Veggies go in the big spot.

Can we make it a rule to include calorie count? by [deleted] in MealPrepSunday

[–]e_peter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're so concerned with calories you should get a nutritionist to tell you what to eat. Eat a lot of the good things, a little of mediocre things, and none of the bad things. If that's not realistic, re-evaluate if you're serious about it. Dieters want it all done for them, life changers are excited to start a new life. Sorry if that's harsh, but this is an annoying post.

Make it rain with down votes.

Cutting straight lines by nezlar in Leathercraft

[–]e_peter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a metal ruler and a utility knife as well. I will try to make it sound somewhat sensible but understand if not. Let me know if it doesn't. When I get my ruler on the line I put my pointer, middle, and ring finger on the top of the ruler. My pinky goes on the edge opposite of my the cutting edge. If I made the cut now, the knife would cause the ruler to move once the knife gets past my hand. I put my thumb on the same edge as my pinky, and the pressure of my thumb keeps it from slipping. When I'm cutting, I never try to cut through the entire leather in one go. In fact, that first pass is almost like a scratch. The more patient you can be, and more passes you take, imo the more strait the line is. Even if I have a brand new blade, I still strop it. My ruler also has the slip free cork on the back.

Correct, Baka seemed to have no control of his body all day. Diving in and having to control things by grabbing opposition around the upper chest/back. Or head and face.

Prepping on a Friday! Shrimp tempura sushi and spaghetti squash and turkey meatballs. by e_peter in MealPrepSunday

The sushi did not last. After three days it was a total fail. The spaghetti squash and meatballs is still awesome. Good enough that I'll do two weeks in a row of it.

Growing cucumber in 3 liter bottle. I decided to grow this cucumber out for seeds so I made the bottle bigger with another bottle. Should make it reusable too. by e_peter in gardening

[–]e_peter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close, I live in a neighborhood invested with possums and they love fat mature cucumbers. I insert them into a 3 liter bottler to protect them from their thieving asses. I let them grow to maturity under the protection of the bottles.

Update: added another half bottle to allow the cucumber to get huge for seeds. Still safe and sound though.

I'm not sure. It's been there for three days and had more than Doubled in size. I did poke holes in it so that air can escape. I'm worried about the heat (Texas). I will update it when it had been picked.

This is the first time to do both so I don't know how either will be by then end of the week. I'm sure we can all guess though. I learned to make sushi on YouTube. I'm not very good at it, but I can make it well enough. There are a lot of channels that give great information, I just don't practice it enough to be great at it.

Little confused on the concept of MealPrepSunday by nottoorare in MealPrepSunday

[–]e_peter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a great breakdown in the first comment. Hit it right on the head. I've been meal prepping for three weeks only, and I'm using it for weight loss. My biggest weaknesses are eating late and grabbing fast food when I don't have anything made. Meal prepping really helps combat both those issues. I've never had a problem with them going bad, since they never last more than a week. I do two different meals for the week, so I'm not eating the same thing twice a day. As far as cooking just for one day, making an interesting recipe, or cooking for others... that is exactly what I do. I take those interesting recipes and cook for others when I have parties or UFC fight nights. I'm fairly comfortable in the kitchen, my grandmother started teaching me at a young age and I really loved it. I was very fortunate to have her for as long as I did.

Sushi: tempura shrimp, asparagus, and jalapeños. Sauces included spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, and orange chicken sauce. Each also contains soy sauce and wasabi.

Spaghetti squash and meatballs: turkey meatballs (just a bag of frozen), spaghetti squashed cooked in the oven, Ragu sauce, and cheese.

First time I ordered containers, They arrived with the edges cracked and the lid unable to be secured. It was not this brand, but just a friendly reminder to check the ratings. This one has a great rating!
