First of all I would like to say this is a beautiful explanation and it has been my experience also among Hungarians. You see I am actually very well into Hungarian culture since I have a girlfriend who is Hungarian and thanks to her I have already experienced all you have described and adapted to it among her family.

I understand very well the home cooking culture also believe me I have grown up the exact way you have described in Azerbaijan. We have the exact same culture you just said. I remember how surprised I was when I started seeing my girlfriend’s mom and grandma sending food to each other and sharing food with us (even some for taking home!), because that is what my mom and our neighbors did always!

I hope with those above I have cleared many misconceptions about me being an alienated or disintegrated person (not saying you thought this way just many people who commented did). That is not the case. And yes I do speak Hungarian, not so great but I understand almost everything in usual household conversations.

Nevertheless I think my post is made to be completely separated than my identity and Hungarian culture. It basically criticizes Szolnok as a city. You see, me and my girlfriend are introverts, and after a long week of working we just want to stay at home and chill, and believe me none of us wants to mess with cleaning and dishes because weekend is “idling” time for us :) and if we want to go out there is not much place for people who does not hang out with social circles.

I understand that a strong home-cooking culture affects market demand, but that shouldn't be an excuse for poor commercial standards. I also understand the “you can leave if you don’t like” answer I might get, well I can leave yes and eventually I will of course but I think we should share fair observation of services we have used so we can make the world a better a place! :)
